After coming close to winning a state title three other times, Mansfield finally has an LHSAA title to claim.
The Lady Wolverines defeated District 1-2A rival North Caddo, 42-34, in the Class 2A championship game Saturday at Rapides Coliseum.
“You know, I think three is a charm,” Mansfield coach Kendra Jones said. “I’ve been in the finals twice and I said we’ve got to win this this year. The kids were excited, and I think we brought most of the town of Mansfield here. It’s just great for the kids, the parents and the community.”
Lady Wolverine junior guard Sha’Kahia Warmsley won MVP honors after playing all 32 minutes and scoring a game-high 17 points. She also added five rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Mansfield (31-3) also got great input from Taylor DeWitt, who had 12 points and 12 rebounds.
