The Mansfield Garden Club met March 19 at the DeSoto Chamber of Commerce with twenty-five members and two guests, Susan Bushman and Theresa Williams of Wichita Falls, Texas, present. President Margaret Leszcynski presided over the meeting

The small Village of Grand Cane is fortunate to have three successful non-profit organizations working on its behalf in three different areas: DeSoto Arts Council – the Arts, BackAlley Community Theatre – Drama and

Music Entertainment and Historic Grand Cane Association – promoting the historic preservation and enjoyment of Historic Grand Cane.

Country music legends Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson will be honored with a tribute show by two of the premier tribute artists of our time. Marion Deaton as Willie and Coley Chaudoin as Waylon will appear at the Calhoun Center on April 19, at 7:00 pm, sponsored by the BackAlley Theatre.

In recognition of Louisiana Retired Teachers Day on March 20, 2014, DeSoto Parish School Board hosted a celebration in honor of its retirees. There were 56 in attendance. Ms. Lillie Giles, Supervisor of Administration for

DeSoto Parish Schools, was the guest speaker. Board Member Dudley read a proclamation from the Governor’s office

Kristina Beth Watson and David Edward Magolis exchanged vows on August 17, 2013 in Fonthill Castle, Doylestown, PA, at 5 pm. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John and Wendy (Cox) Watson of Churchville, PA. The

groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick and Charlene Magolis of Punxsutawney, PA The bride arrived at the historic Fonthill Castle in an open carriage drawn by two white Percheron horses.

The bride-elect is the daughter of William “Bill” and Virginia Simms of Haynesville, LA. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James W. Monzingo of Haynesville and the late Mr. William P and Lilla W. Simms of Shongaloo, LA

Books and Biscuits Book Club 318-734-1433.  met March 4, 2014 with 22 members present to select books for the reading list for the new year. After a delicious lunch at Nonnies each member brought recommendations for future reading.
