While DeSoto Parish students were enjoying their time off from school, four North DeSoto High School students were practicing their dance for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Seniors Jennifer Simmons and Lauren Clarke and Juniors Abby Carter, and Kirsten Sanders, all members of the ND Dazzlers, were selected as All- American Dancers by American Dance and Drill Teams at summer camp in June

The Mansfield Garden Club met, November 19, at the Chamber of Commerce meeting room with President Jackie Albright presiding. She welcomed all members with a special warm welcome to Madelyn Flowers and Margaret Leszcynski who are recovering from health problems. Members answered the roll call by telling something in their garden they were pleased with or something for which they are thankful. Velda Neilson, secretary, read the minutes of previous meeting and Ott Murphy, Treasurer gave the treasurer’s report. She reported that there are a few GARDEN CLUB calendars to be sold.
Books and Biscuits Book Club met at the Cook-Hill Bed and Breakfast in Grand Cane on December 2, 2014. Marcia Calhoun led an exceptionally interesting discussion of this month’s selection, “Caleb’s Crossing” by Geraldine Brooks. Ms. Brooks is an Australian native that began her career as a journalist and has since become a very successful writer of historical fiction
Our culture often sees its artists as illusive dreamers with a gift; the gift of creation. If that is true, a lapidaris would be a true artist. Lapidary stone carving has lived for centuries and has now found its way into our hearts through the stone carvings that make rings, necklaces, earrings and belt buckles.

refreshments, with all present enjoying the delicious food. The ceremony consisted of Cub Scout Pack 33 serving as Color Guard and Friends President Pat Arbuckle leading the Pledge of Allegiance and opening remarks
The Mansfield High School Class of 1964 gathered on June 28 at the home of Judson Scott to celebrate 50 years since graduation. In attendance were 18 Class of '64' members, 10 members of other year classes, 1 faculty member, and spouses and guests
