Northwestern State University’s Department of Fine and Graphic Art hosted an Art Extravaganza, which consisted of a full day of workshops and demonstrations aimed at high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. The event took place on the NSU campus on Friday, February 13. NSU faculty and students held the event to familiarize high school students, teachers and parents with Northwestern State’s Fine and Graphic Arts programs and facilities, as well as art processes and facilities.
Those attending the 2015 Logansport Mardi Gras Parade, presented by the Krewe of Aquarius, were in for a treat when the El Karubah Shriners accepted an invitation to take part in this year’s festivities.

LaBetha Casey let the discussion of Jennifer Chiaverini’s historical novel, “Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker”. The author bases her novel on the life of Elizabeth Hobbs Keckley, a former slave who not only made history but also wrote about it in her memoir, “Behind the Scenes: Or, Thirty Years a Slave and Four Years in the White House”.

Barbara Valentine, Administrative Coordinator for the Mansfield Female College Museum, has announced a change in hours for Tuesday only. Due to state budget cuts, the museum will be open on Tuesdays from 12:30 PM until 4:30 PM, and will continue to be closed on Monday.
