The DeSoto Arts Council is pleased to invite you to attend a special art exhibit, beginning at 11 am, prior to the DeSoto Parish Chamber of Commerce noon meeting on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. The exhibit, entitled “Grand Cane: A Legacy in Art”, features 4 original works by artist, Michael Graham.
Each year in June, Back Alley Community Theatre sponsors the Back Alley Academy for ages 8yrs.-12 yrs. old. BackAlley Academy is atwo-week workshop of intense play practice, drama games, prop-preparation and an excellent theatre experience for all involved.
The Lions Club of Mansfield were glad to have as their speaker Tuesday, 05/26/15,Terry Tis dale of Superior Hospice. Superior Hospice isa local hospice care providerin an ever changing healthcare industry. Terry reenforced her commitment to De Soto Parish and the surrounding area for hospice care for any family that finds them selves at this point intheir lives.
The Garden of the Month was presented to the Hope Calhoun home on Crosby Street. She has numerous container plantings filled with beautiful flowers plus artifacts, vines and blooming annuals and trees.
Northwestern State University’s Department of Fine + Graphic Art will again offer the popular Art Fundamentals Summer Camp, a three-week event for youngsters ages 5-11. Three sessions with three different themes will be offered. All sessions run from 1-5 p.m. Monday- Friday and will take place in Room 205 of the Fine Arts Annex. Campers can be dropped off as early as 12:30 p.m. and picked up as late as 5:30 p.m. Parents may coordinate with organizers for children who participate in the morning Fun with Music Camp to transition to the Art Fundamentals Camp in the afternoon.

A multi-church community wide Revival has been set for May 19th-22nd. Each night will be held at a different church and will feature a different pastor. Schedule will be as follows: Sunday, May 19th - 6:00 will be held at Hunter Magnolia Baptist Church located on Hwy 191 with Bro. Eugene Cox.
The DeSoto Council onAging, located at 404 Polk Street– St. A in Mansfield, will offer toall DeSoto Parish residents 60years and older, free legalservices during the month ofMay. Various topics and relatedinformation will be presented onselect days. Each session willtake place at 10:00 AM.
Heads up Logansport residents,as the residential access to Hwy 84has changed once again. Unofficialword is that the 7th Street access isnow closed at the railroad tracksgoing north and 3rd Street is onceagain open. The 3rd Street railroad crossingis not a smooth one, so use cautionwhen entering Hwy 84 at thislocation.
The Annual ART ROCKS Student Art Show, co-sponsored by the DeSoto Arts Council and The DeSoto Parish Tourist Bureau was a huge success, drawing almost double the entries over last year.
