DAC Presents “Grand Cane: A Legacy in Art” at Recent Chamber Meeting

The DeSoto Arts Council presented a special art exhibit, “Grand Cane: A Legacy in Art” prior to the June meeting of the DeSoto Parish Chamber of Commerce. The exhibit consisted of four original art pieces by visual artist, Michael Graham, which depicts several scenes that reflect the history of the Village of Grand Cane.

Mansfield’s Nakia Graham Among Students Selected for NSU’s ADVANCE Program

Several Northwestern State University students are serving as teaching assistants and/or residential assistants as NSU conducts its 27th annual ADVANCE summer session. ADVANCE is a summer residential program for gifted and talented youth that offers intensive, fastpaced courses in the humanities, mathematics, natural science and computer science.

DeSoto Arts Council to Feature “THE SCOTTISH WAY” at Summer Solstice Celebration

The DeSoto Arts Council Gallery is pleased to announce that Doug & Jene Jefferson will introduce “The Scottish Way” art during their Feature Artists Show on Saturday, June 20, 6-8pm as part of the Summer Solstice Celebration in Grand Cane. The individual talents of Doug and Jene come together in the creation of their unique art pieces that reflect their love of all things Scottish. Jene has been interested in creating art since her young childhood, as she was always sketching, painting,  mixing mediums and doing different kinds of needle work.

The “Summer Solstice” event invites visitors to the Historic District to enjoy the old buildings and the DAC Gallery Artists at work.

Each year in June, Back Alley Community Theatre sponsors the Back Alley Academy for ages 8yrs.-12 yrs. old. BackAlley Academy is atwo-week workshop of intense play practice, drama games, prop-preparation and an excellent theatre experience for all involved.

Factory Mansfield Lions Welcome Superior Hospice Speaker

The Lions Club of Mansfield were glad to have as their speaker Tuesday, 05/26/15,Terry Tis dale of Superior Hospice. Superior Hospice isa local hospice care providerin an ever changing healthcare industry. Terry reenforced her commitment to De Soto Parish and the surrounding area for hospice care for any family that finds them selves at this point intheir lives.
