On Wednesday, December 17, the Mansfield Garden Club enjoyed a Christmas luncheon at the Country Lodge of David and Janet Calhoun on Lake Road. All the members enjoyed a potluck lunch with some really delicious food. Our members are equally at home in the kitchen as in our gardens

NDHS Dazzlers Participate in Macy Thanksgiving Day Parade

While DeSoto Parish students were enjoying their time off from school, four North DeSoto High School students were practicing their dance for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Seniors Jennifer Simmons and Lauren Clarke and Juniors Abby Carter, and Kirsten Sanders, all members of the ND Dazzlers, were selected as All- American Dancers by American Dance and Drill Teams at summer camp in June

Mansfield Garden Club November Meeting

The Mansfield Garden Club met, November 19, at the Chamber of Commerce meeting room with President Jackie Albright presiding. She welcomed all members with a special warm welcome to Madelyn Flowers and Margaret Leszcynski who are recovering from health problems. Members answered the roll call by telling something in their garden they were pleased with or something for which they are thankful. Velda Neilson, secretary, read the minutes of previous meeting and Ott Murphy, Treasurer gave the treasurer’s report. She reported that there are a few GARDEN CLUB calendars to be sold.

Books and Biscuits Book Club met at the Cook-Hill Bed and Breakfast in Grand Cane on December 2, 2014. Marcia Calhoun led an exceptionally interesting discussion of this month’s selection, “Caleb’s Crossing” by Geraldine Brooks. Ms. Brooks is an Australian native that began her career as a journalist and has since become a very successful writer of historical fiction
