Cinderella Project Hosts 3rd Annual Dress Giveaway for Local High School Junior and Senior Girls

The Cinderella Project of Shreveport will host its 3rd Annual Prom Dress Giveaway where junior and senior girls from Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, DeSoto, Red River, and Webster Parish will shop for free prom dresses. The Cinderella Project helps these young women in attending their prom with style and confidence, while at the same time instilling an appreciation for community service and the importance of giving back.

NDHS Students Attend NSU’s Art Extravaganza

Students from area schools watch the Metal Pour demonstration during NSUʼs Art Extravaganza.
Northwestern State University’s Department of Fine and Graphic Art hosted an Art Extravaganza, which consisted of a full day of workshops and demonstrations aimed at high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. The event took place on the NSU campus on Friday, February 13. NSU faculty and students held the event to familiarize high school students, teachers and parents with Northwestern State’s Fine and Graphic Arts programs and facilities, as well as art processes and facilities.

Books and Biscuits Book Club Discuss “Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker”

The February meeting of the Books and Biscuits Club met on February 3 at Nonnie’s in Grand Cane with eighteen members present. LaBetha Casey let the discussion of Jennifer Chiaverini’s historical novel, “Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker”. The author bases her novel on the life of Elizabeth Hobbs Keckley, a former slave who not only made history but also wrote about it in her memoir, “Behind the Scenes: Or, Thirty Years a Slave and Four Years in the White House”.
