Art Fundamentals Summer Camp to be Offered at Northwestern University

Northwestern State University’s Department of Fine + Graphic Art will again offer the popular Art Fundamentals Summer Camp, a three-week event for youngsters ages 5-11. Three sessions with three different themes will be offered. All sessions run from 1-5 p.m. Monday- Friday and will take place in Room 205 of the Fine Arts Annex. Campers can be dropped off as early as 12:30 p.m. and picked up as late as 5:30 p.m. Parents may coordinate with organizers for children who participate in the morning Fun with Music Camp to transition to the Art Fundamentals Camp in the afternoon.

A multi-church community wide Revival has been set for May 19th-22nd. Each night will be held at a different church and will feature a different pastor. Schedule will be as follows: Sunday, May 19th - 6:00 will be held at Hunter Magnolia Baptist Church located on Hwy 191 with Bro. Eugene Cox.

Logansport Residents are Now toUse 3rd Street to Access Hwy 84

Heads up Logansport residents,as the residential access to Hwy 84has changed once again. Unofficialword is that the 7th Street access isnow closed at the railroad tracksgoing north and 3rd Street is onceagain open. The 3rd Street railroad crossingis not a smooth one, so use cautionwhen entering Hwy 84 at thislocation.

“It’s a Southern Thang” Selected for Logansport’s 32nd Annual River City Fest’s Theme

Plans are underway for the 32nd Annual River City Fest in Logansport, with this year’s theme selected as “It’s a Southern Thang”. Festival Chairman Karla Smith stated that this year’s theme came to her, and she just went with it. Dates for the 2015 Fest will run May 15, 16 and 17. A fireworks show presented by Durr Pyromania will begin at “dark-thirty” Friday night.

Plans Continue for First Annual “Balloons Over DeSoto” Event

On May 8, 9 and 10, DeSoto Parish residents as well as the surrounding area will have the opportunity to be a part of something historic as a hot air balloon show entitled, “Balloons Over DeSoto” will be held. The event will be filled with family fun for an entire weekend, and is sponsored by the DeSoto Parish Police Jury and DeSoto Parish Tourism Board.
