Sixth Annual Fly-In to be Held at C. E. “Rusty” Williams Airport

De Soto Parish and the surrounding area will have something to look for ward to this Fall when the Sixth Annual Fly-Inand Classic Car Show will be held again this year at the C. E. “Rusty ”Williams Airport. The De Soto Parish Police Jury and the airport co-present the yearly event, whichwill be held on Saturday, September19 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM.

Books and Biscuits Club Gather at Village Cuisine for August Meeting

The Book and Biscuits Book Club met at the Village Cuisine in Grand Cane on August 4, 2015. Edith Herring did an excellent job of leading a very lively discussion on this month’s selection, Gray Mountain by John Grisham. This author is very well known and has written about a book a year since 1989. In this latest novel, Grisham takes on the serious but generally underreported environmental issue of strip mining, otherwise known as mountaintop removal.

DeSoto Parish Students Participate in “A-HEC of a Summer” Program

Central Louisiana Area Health Education Center (Central LA AHEC) collaborated with DeSoto Regional Health System and DeSoto arish School Board to bring the “A-HEC of a Summer” program to high school students living in DeSoto parish. Fifteen students were selected to volunteer at DeSoto Regional Health System for 15 days this summer, rotating through various departments in the hospital to gain hands-on experiences with the goal of determining whether or not a health career is a good choice for their future.
