DeSoto Parish Volunteer Grandparents Celebrate Christmas

This giving group of citizens represent the DeSoto Parish Foster Grandparents, which is a volunteer program. Foster Grandparents read to the children, assist teachers with classwork, bond with the children and are viewed as surrogate grandparents to many of the children.

Books and Biscuits Book Club Hold Festive December Meeting

Books and Biscuits Book Club met at the Cook-Hill Bed and Breakfast in Grand Cane on December 1, 2015. Everyone was in the “spirit” with all their colorful Christmas sweaters and socks; yes, several of the members were decked out in great seasonal stockings. The Cook-Hill House was showing its Christmas spirit, too, as volunteers had done a very nice job of decorating it for our luncheon.

One way we can do this is to serve others who are less fortunate. The Sassi Sistas with Style begin this holiday season by giving bags to the elderly containing items to prepare a delicious Thanksgiving dinner.

American Indian Arts and Crafts Day Set for Saturday, December 5

The Williamson Museum at Northwestern State University will host the annual American Indian Arts and Crafts Day Saturday, December 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Room 210 of Kyser Hall on the NSU campus Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
