A bridal shower was given in honor of Hannah Gamble, future bride of Allen Touchton, at the Pelican Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, Sunday, November 8, 2015. Fun and fellowship was had by all. Hannah is engaged to Allen Touchton of Pelican and they plan to wed in December.
Plan to begin your Christmas Season with our “Classic Country Christmas” show. Terry Sparks is bringing together her "Classics" band to produce a sparkling wonderful Christmas extravaganza just for us. The “Classics” are made up of several talented and accomplished musicians.

Author Judy Christie was a guest at the November 3, 2015 Books and Biscuits meeting at the Cook-Hill House Bed and Breakfast in Grand Cane. Christie, author of “Wreath, A Girl,” spoke about her interest in books and writing and her career as a journalist.

The walls of the Desoto Arts Council are filled with pictures and histories of Desoto Parish churches. A special treat is the addition of the works of Keithville photographer Wilfred Smith who brings us striking black and whites photos of All Saints Episcopal Church in Stonewall and Grand Cane Methodist Church.

Brian McCarty, Mansfield Main Library staff member, has collected dragons for several years and the ones on display at the library are some of his favorites. The clay dragons were bought at the Red River Revel from an Oklahoma artist. The others came from mail order catalogs, shops and Renaissance festivals. Some are made of pewter or ceramic. Also on display is a stuffed toy dragon from the movie “Shrek”.
The BackAlley Community Theatre is spotlighting Paula Callender this week. Paula reprises her role as “Betty Jean” in the upcoming play, “The Marvelous Wonderettes: Caps and Gowns”. Paula is married to Doyle and has two daughters Kate, 13 and Alli, 10.
