River City Fest “Summertime on the Sabine” Moves Forward

Article Image Alt Text
Article Image Alt Text

River City Fest Committee Chairman Kathi Wells and her volunteer helpers have moved forward with plans for the 2019 festival despite financial setbacks. It seems that due to changes in the state procedures none of Logansport’s festivals (which include Mardi Gras, July 4th Fireworks show, River City Fest, Christmas Festival, etc.) will qualify for financial aid due to the lack of a hotel/motel in Logansport. The one across the river in Joaquin does not help with Logansport’s tax dollars that the state now requires. With that being said, financial help in the way of sponsors and private or organizational donations are greatly needed and appreciated. What the year Wells called “the year of reconstruction” with the festival is totally true with all conditions, both good and bad, meeting certain criteria on whether it can be achieved. Her first instinct was to cut certain areas, but with the backbone of “where there’s a will, there’s a way,” the show will go on.
