The Mansfield High School Wolverines finished their regular season action with an overtime win over district opponent Green Oaks. The game was originally scheduled earlier in the season but was postponed. The game was played Friday, February 18, at Green Oaks High School. The excitement ended in overtime with the MHS Wolverines as the victors — MHS 49, GOHS 45.

The MHS Lady Wolverines easily defeated their first round playoff opponent on Thursday, February 17, in the Wolverine Gymnasium. The team from Patterson High School traveled to Mansfield to face the Lady Wolverines, and the Lady Wolverines sent them right back to Patterson — the final score was MHS 71, PHS 12.

B.A.S.S. is seeking nominations for the best and brightest high school bass anglers in the country.

The Bassmaster High School All-American Fishing Team presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors recognizes the 12 most outstanding high school anglers in the nation. The program is designed to reward young athletes for their performance in tournaments, leadership in their communities and involvement in conservation efforts.

Applications for the team, which is now in its eighth year, will be accepted today through March 8.

To be considered, a student must be nominated by a parent, coach, teacher or other school official. Students currently enrolled in grades 10 through 12 with a current grade point average of 2.5 or higher are eligible.

The Lady Wolverines swept District 1-3A by defeating the Loyola College Prep Lady Flyers Friday, February 11. It was an exciting night for the players and fans as the Lady Wolverines ended district play as the district champs! The final score Friday was MHS 48, LCP 34. Congratulations, Lady Wolverines!

The Wolverine basketball team did not fare as well, as the young men from Mansfield were defeated by the Flyers in a close contest; final score LCP 45, MHS 42.

On Friday, February 4, the MHS Lady Wolverines and Wolverines hosted district games against the Bossier Lady Bearkats and Bearkats.

When the evening was over, the Lady Wolverines continued to be undefeated in district play by beating the Lady Bearkats 66-25. The Wolverine young men could not pull out a win against the perpetual basketball powerhouse Bossier team and were defeated; final score BHS 70, MHS 34.
