The Many Bass Club’s June 2023 Tournament took place on Saturday, June 10, and Sunday June 11, on Toledo Bend. Ten anglers participated in the tournament. Four of the anglers weighed in a full five fish limit. The weather on Saturday was overcast early with a strong west wind which shifted south and blew significantly harder in the afternoon as a front approached from the north which was followed by a squall line with 50 MPH winds, driving rain and hail. The club weighin on Saturday was completed just ahead of the strong storm, and thankfully none of our anglers were caught on the Lake by this dangerous weather. Sunday was overcast and breezy with strong southwest winds with temps near ninety, and the bite was negatively impacted by the previous afternoon’s storms. The Lake level was 171.3’, and the fish were scattered in the water column. The water temps were in the mid-eighties.

Bossier Parish Community College is set to host the 2023 NJCAA Region XIV Softball Tournament May 12-15. A press conference will be held May 11 at 3pm on the BPCC campus, located at 6220 East Texas Street, to kickoff the multi-day event.

The eight-team tournament will be comprised of the top 4 teams from Region XIV East and Region XIV South. Teams will compete for the top spots in the double elimination event, with the first and second place teams advancing to the NJCAA National tournament in Oxford, Alabama May 2327.

“It is an honor to have the opportunity to host the NJCAA DI Region XIV Softball Tournament this year for the first time in program history,” Amanda Nordberg, Director of Athletics and Head Softball Coach for Bossier Parish Community College, said. “Many of the colleges within Region XIV continue to be recognized at the national level and we are looking forward to bringing a high level of collegiate softball to our community in May.”

Central 4-H members competed at the 4-H Regional Shooting Sports Competition. Elementary/Jr. High members who competed in .22 rifle competition were Easton McCoy, Tristian Gill, Bryson Hesser, and Caleb Meshell. Senior members who also competed in .22 rifle competition were Colton Knight and Jacob Meshell. Easton

On Monday, April 10, the Lady Wolverines Softball Team celebrated their seniors with a home win over the Pleasant Hill Lady Eagles; the final score was MHS 18, PHHS 1.

On Friday, April 14, the Wolverine Baseball did not fare well with their senior night home game, as the Wolverines fell to the visiting Tigers from Jonesboro-Hodge; the final score was JHHS 26, MHS 9.
