The Joaquin Lady Rams powerlifting team competed at the Region 3 Powerlifting Meet on Saturday March 4th in Eustace Texas. Halle Bonner, Riley Mullins, and Emma Barton all represented our school well. Each lifter hit personal best on many lifts. Emma Barton finished in 8th place in her division. Riley Mullins finished in 6th place in her division. Halle Bonner finished 1st in her division and will represent Region 3 at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting State Meet as the Regional Champion. Congratulations girls on a very successful season and good luck Halle at State.

Both the Lady Wolverine Softball Team and the Wolverine Baseball Team hosted games on Tuesday, March 7, at the MHS campus. When the dust settled on the two fields, both the Lady Wolverines and Wolverines emerged victorious. The Lady Wolverines defeated the Lakeview Lady Gators 16-1. The Wolverines defeated the Plain Dealing Lions 15-1.

The 2nd Annual Trey Burford Memorial Bass Tournament has been set for Saturday, April 1 at San Miguel Boat Launch on Toledo Bend in Zwolle, LA. The tournament hours are from 6:45 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. with the scales open at 2:30 p.m.

Entry fee is $250.00 including registering for the Big Bass.

First Place winner is $10,000.00 (guaranteed), with 2nd Place at $5,000, and 3rd Place at $2,500.

Additional places will also be paid with Big Bass prize set at $2,500.00 First cast is from 6:45 a.m. with last cast at 3:00 p.m. Boat numbers 1 through 75 must be checked in by 4:00 p.m. Boat numbers 76 through 150 must be checked in by 3:45 p.m. and Boat numbers 151 plus must be checked in by 3:30 p.m. Register EARLY to get a later check-in time. Trailering is allowed so that you can launch at your convenience. Also, there is a $500.00 “Zero” Bonus Drawing for Anglers releasing fish not in the payout, sponsored by Andre Martin Cabinets and More.

The Mansfield Wolverine Basketball Team hosted a first-round playoff game on Friday, February 24, 2023, in the Mansfield Gymnasium.

The visiting Doyle Tigers, a 3A school, were pitted against the hometown 2A MHS young men for an evening of basketball action.

When the final horn sounded, the smaller local school prevailed with a final score of 72 - 49! The Wolverines will continue in the State playoffs with a road trip to Port Allen to face the number one ranked 3A Port Allen Pelicans.

N DeSoto Lady Griffins Host Softball Tourney

The season ended for the Mansfield Lady Wolverines on Thursday, February 16, 2023, as the 2A MHS team faced the 3A Patterson High School Jills in State Playoffs. The game at Mansfield High School pitted the two different class teams against each other in playoff action as a result of the playoff restructuring that was put into place this year by the LHSAA.

The back-and-forth action was a treat for the Mansfield faithful as they watched their Lady Wolverines battle the visiting Jills. However, the hometown ladies could not pull out the win and fell to Patterson 60-52.

The Lady Wolverines, coached by Head Coach Kendra Neal Jones and Assistant Coach Sam Neal, had a great season that was capped off by a playoff berth.
