SARDIS COMMUNITY, LA-- Funeral services honoring the life of John Tatum, 86, were held December 23, 2017 at Beulah Baptist Church in Mansfield, LA with Reverend David Permenter officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Cemetery in Converse, LA. John was born on April 3, 1931 to C.W. and Sally Tatum and entered into rest on December 21, 2017. He was hard-working and faithful to his wife, children, great-grandchildren, family, and friends. John was born and raised in the Sardis Community. Honest hard-work and determination were part of his large family of 3 boys and 5 girls. These traits were the very core of the man John Tatum became. Upon finishing high school, John served in the Air Force for 8 years as an aircraft mechanic. Once he served his country, John moved his family back to the Sardis Community to own and operate dairy farm for several years.

Carolyn Moran Beaubouef Funeral services for Carolyn Beaubouef, 88, were held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, Louisiana on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 10:00 am with Rev. David Daniel officiating. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Frierson, Louisiana. Visitation was held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 6pm till 8 pm. Carolyn Eloise Moran Beaubouef was born November 17, 1929 and passed into glory on January 1, 2018. Carolyn was raised in Kingston, Louisiana, after her family moved back home from Illinois in 1939. Carolyn attended Stonewall High School and LSU, majoring in costume design, at the strong urging of her parents. Missing her precious cattle back home in Kingston and knowing her God given gifts with animals, she persuaded her parents to allow her to change her major to Animal Industry. She was the only female in the program at LSU at the time.

Curtis Shaw, Jr. passed away on the 30th day of December 2017 at the age of 66. Services were held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, Louisiana on January 3, 2018 at 2:00 PM, with visitation January 2, 2018 from 5 to 8 PM in the chapel. Rev. Jerry England of Jonestown Baptist Church in Jonestown, Texas officiated. Burial followed at the Mansfield Cemetery in Mansfield, La. Mr. Shaw was born September 13, 1951 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Curtis Shaw Sr. & Carmen “Susie” Shaw. Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by his mother Carmen “Susie” Shaw, He is survived by his father Curtis Shaw Sr., His former wife of 31 years Frances Shaw Lowe of Mansfield, son, Jesse Shaw of Grand Cane, La, daughter Monica Shaw Holloway and husband Timothy of Mansfield, La. Seven Grandchildren Shaina, Levi, Brooke, & Gabriel Holloway & Kaylyn, Eli & Saya Shaw of Grand Cane, La. Some called him Curtis, some called him Tinker, and we just called him daddy.

A visitation for Tommy Brown, M.D., 61, of Scottsville, Texas, was held Wednesday, January 3, 2018, from 4-8 pm at Osborn Funeral Home at 3631 Southern Avenue in Shreveport, Louisiana. Funeral services and a celebration of life were held at 10 am Thursday, January 4, 2018 at First Methodist Church, Head of Texas Street, Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Pat Day officiated with assistance by Rev. Richard “Mike” Stowell and Rev. Jimmy Price. Dr. Brown was born February 14, 1956, and peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 29, 2017, with his dear family at his side, after a brief but valiant battle with heart disease. He was preceded in death by his parents, Talmadge “Tad” and Marjorie “Pug” Brown and his oldest sister, Edna Dell Duggan.

Thomas was born on May 18, 1933 to Ava and James Bates, Sr. and entered into rest on December 20, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Howard Bates, Jr. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Virginia Bates of Mansfield, LA; his daughter, Kay Sanders and friend Les Prescott of Bossier City, LA; his brother, Don Bates and wife Becky of Stanley, LA; and a special friend he thought of as his own son, Ricky Weeks and wife Raylene of Stanley, LA. Honoring the life of Thomas as pallbearers will be his nephews. The family would like to give thanks to Rusty Bates, Diane James, Sam Guy, the nurses and staff of DeSoto Retirement and Rehab, the nurses and staff of Superior Hospice, and the beloved Palmer family.

Cheryl was born on October 25, 1948 in Texarkana, Arkansas to Martin & Claire Stanley and passed away on December 9, 2017 in Grand Cane, Louisiana. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents Martin & Claire Stanley. Those left behind to cherish her memory is her husband of 40 years, Albert M. Rives IV of Grand Cane, LA, sons, Ryan Wade Hampton and wife Tina of Texarkana, TX, Patrick Scott Rives and wife Teresa of Mansfield, LA & Robert Martin Rives of Keithville, LA; grandchildren Coy Bradford, Casey Bradford, Brittney Rives, Caleb Wilson, McKenzie Wilson and Karman Stewart.

David Charles LaFauci

David Charles "Augie" LaFauci, 72, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 2, 2017. David was a resident of Mansfield the past 41 years, and a member of the El Karubah Shrine, Shreveport. He retired from International Paper in 2010. David was born February 14, 1945, to Lillie Ruth and August C. LaFauci, and grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is there that he met and married Helen L. Metzger on October 18, 1961, and recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. David was not only the beloved husband of Helen, but also the proud father of four daughters, grandfather of seven, and great grandfather of six. He was preceded in death by his parents, August C. LaFauci in 1961, and Lillie Ruth Davis in 2012; sister, Judith A. LaBlanc in 2001; brother, Leo A. LaFauci in 2004; eldest daughter, Lori Michaele LaFauci Yarbrough in 2015. David is survived by his wife, Helen M. LaFauci of Mansfield; daughters, Doreen K.

Isaac David Bufkin

Issac Bufkin 95, of Brenham, TX peacefully transitioned to heaven and the presence of his Lord Jesus Christ on December 5, 2017. God was ready for his great big heart and his great big laugh to be in heaven. David was born May 16, 1922 in a tent in Haynesville, LA to Floran Eugene and Lizzie Pauline Emmons Bufkin. He grew up in Mansfield, LA. David served his country from 1942-1946 in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a flight instructor, ground school instructor and flight engineer. During this time, he lived in Santa Ana and Oxnard, CA, Marana AZ, Marfa, TX, and San Antonio, TX. He graduated from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute (now LA. Tech University) in Ruston, LA with a degree in mechanical engineering. On April 23, 1944 he married the love of his life, Lee Renfrow of Tallulah, LA. They lived in Mansfield, LA, Ruston, LA, Hampton, VA, Shreveport, LA, Houston, TX and Brenham, TX. David began working for his dad in the family grocery store at age 10.
