Former State Senator and local businesswoman, civic leader, and patron of the arts, Virginia Ruth Kilpatrick Shehee left her extraordinary life on July 6, 2015. Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 275 Southfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71105 at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2015. Interment followed at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Avenue, Shreveport, LA 71103. Officiating was The Reverend Paul D. Martin.

Village of Keachi to Light Up with July 4 Fireworks

Mayor Travis Whitfield has announced that the Keachi Heritage Foundation will host their annual Fourth of July celebration complete with fireworks. The public is cordially invited to join area residents at “The Old Plantation Store” at the crossroads of Highways 5, 172 and 789. The celebration will begin at 6:30 PM, with a fireworks show set to start at 9:30 PM.

This year the event has been named to honor the memory of one of their own, who was a very dedicated member of the Fire Department.

Pink Ribbon Pop Up Scheduled for Tuesday in Mansfield

The Pink Ribbon Pop Up mobile unit will be in the Walmart parking lot in Mansfield on Tuesday, June 30 from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. Offerings included at the event are breast health screenings (no cost mammograms), breast health outreach and education, other health screenings and free t-shirts, prizes and gift cards.
