MMS Football, “It’s Great to be a Wolverine”

The Mansfield Middle School 7th grade football team had a season that gives hope for the future. The team won 3 out of their last 4 games including a dominant performance when teaming with the 8th grade football team against the 8th grade team of Provencal. The team averaged about 30 points a game during this time in only 24 minutes of play (one half of a regulation high school game).

Tigers Claim First Victory Over Block 26-0

The Logansport Tigers earned their first ever victory of the Block Bears with a 26-0 shutout. The two teams first met in 2013 with Block winning 52-8. In 2014 the Tigers made their first trip to Jonesville to take on the Bears and fell 38-19.

Wolverines Fall to BTW Lions 30-6

The Mansfield Wolverines dropped to 0-9 on the season after a 30-6 loss to the Booker T. Washington Lions. Mansfield closes out the regular season against the Loyola Flyers. The Wolverine defense was able to hold the Lions to 183 total yards in the game. Mansfield was done by 4 interceptions and 7 quarterback sacks.

North Desoto Griffins Run Past Huntington 54-18

North Desoto traveled to Independence Stadium to take on the Huntington Raiders in a District 1 4-A match up. The Griffins came away with a dominating win by the score of 54-18 to push the record to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in District play. Next up for the Griffins is a huge match up at home with the Minden Crimson Tide. Both teams are 4-1 in Distinct play, one game behind Benton at 5-0.

Tigers Celebrate Homecoming With 47-14 Win Over Lasalle

The Logansport Tiger celebrated their 2015 Homecoming with a 47- 14 dominating win over the visiting LaSalle Tigers. With the win the Tiger improved the record to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in District 3 1-A play. The loss dropped LaSalle to 5- 3 and 1-2. Next up for the Tigers is a road trip to Jonesville, LA to take on the Block Bears. Block comes into the game with a 3-5 record with all 3 wins coming in District play. Against LaSalle, the Tigers were able to roll up 479 yards, 339 of it on the ground, while limiting the visitors to 173 yards.

Mansfield Drops Homecoming Contest To North Webster

Excitement was in the air in Mansfield this past Thursday night at the Wolverines played host to the North Webster Knights. It was Homecoming 2015 against a District 1-3A opponent and it was being televised on national TV on ESPNU. Running Back/Linebacker Devin White of North Webster is one of the top college recruits in the state.

Logansport Drops Game To St Mary 42-12

The Logansport Tigers played host to the number 1 ranked and undefeated St Mary’s Tigers last week. Logansport came into the game with a 3-3 record while St Mary’s fell to 1-1 in District 3-1A play. This week the Tigers will celebrate homecoming. The opponent for the homecoming game will be the LaSalle Tigers. LaSalle comes into the game with a 5-2 record.

Wolverines Fall To Green Oaks In 4 Overtimes

The Mansfield Wolverines took the Green Oaks Giants to 4 overtimes before falling 30-24. With the loss, the Wolverines fell to 0-7 on the season. The game was the first District 1-3A contest for Mansfield. Next up for the Wolverines in a visit from district co-leader, the North Webster Knights.

Griffins Rebound To Take Victory Over Woodlawn

After their loss to Benton last week, the North DeSoto Griffins fell to Number 8 in the Class 4A State rankings. This week the Griffins played host to the Woodlawn Knight in a District match up. Woodlawn back Trivensky Mosley came in to the game with almost 900 yards and 15 touchdowns on the season. Mosley found the going much tougher against the stout Griffins defense who held him to 12 yards on 11 carries.

Tigers Have Record Night Against Gators

Friday night against the Northwood-Lena Gators, Tiger Senior Kameron Chatman found his way in the school record book. With a 9 yard reception from quarterback Dalton Shaw, Chatman took over 1st place on the all time reception list with 99 catches. The previous record holder was Jamarius Hewitt with 98 catches from 2004 to 2006. He currently ranks 4th on the receiving yardage list with 1408 yards and needs 198 more to take over 1st place.
