LHS Softball Team to Hold Crawfish Fundraiser

The Logansport High School Softball Team will hold a crawfish fundraiser on Saturday, March 5 from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM at The Crawfish Shack, located at 302 N. Elm in Logansport. Crawfish plates will include 3 pounds of crawfish, 2 potatoes and 1 corn for $17.99. Proceeds from the crawfish dinner sales will be donated to the LHS Softball Booster Club.

MHS Baseball and Softball Teams to Host Spring Tourney

Mansfield High School’s baseball and softball teams will be hosting their Annual Spring Tournament March 3-5, 2016. Games will be held on Thursday and Friday beginning at 4:00 PM and on Saturday beginning at 9:00 AM.

What intrigues me  most as to the relevance of college basketball in today’s sports minded society would the arena it provides for the young yet to be great stars of tomorrow. An arena not so readily available to the unknown in the past yet on this page everyone gets their moment. And it is that very moment that defines greatness or at least a propensity to achieve a great bit of success.

Aiden Wallace Earns Martial Arts Yellow Belt

Six-year-old Aiden Wallace took his martial arts test for his yellow belt on January 29 and passed. He is a student at Taekwondo at Self Defense America in Center where Master Tina Roddy and Sensei Richard Roddy are his instructors. He is a first grade student in Ms. Walkerʼs class at Logansport Elementary. (submitted by Doug Hannah)

Cody Niten’s 15-Point Buck Harvest Wins Pelican’s Big Buck Contest

Cody Niten, 17, of Longstreet, is the winner of Pelican Branch Library’s Third Annual Big Buck Contest! The prize? A $100 gift card to Bass Pro Shop. Cody killed this huge 17-point near Keachi on December 17. He shot this monster buck with his .270 nearly 5 minutes before dark. The buck ran about 20 yards and fell. Congratulations Cody!

DeSoto Men Qualify for FLW Nationals

The LSUS bass fishing team of Christian Brown of Pelican and Jared Rascoe of Stonewall won Saturday, January 9th’s FLW College Fishing Southern Conference opener on Somerville Lake with five bass weighing 18 pounds, 7 ounces. The victory earned the club $2,000 and advanced the team to the 2017 FLW College Fishing National Championship.
