On Senior Night, the Mansfield Wolverines (4-6,1-3) fell to the Loyola Flyers 26-14 after Wolverines gift wrapped an early 17-0 first half lead that proved to be too much to overcome for the Green and White.

The 2018 edition of the Mansfield Wolverines have searched for a signature win all season. In front of a huge Homecoming crowd on Friday night, the Wolverines finally delivered. Mansfield put together their most complete outing to take a critical 20-14 win over the North Webster Knights.

As the Wolverines clung to post season hopes, the offense started out on fire with the first possession driving 65 yards while mixing the run and pass, capped off by a 1 yard Dyllan Robinson plunge to take an early 6-0 lead. After that opening score, both teams played similar styles of football with ball control run games while strategically mixing in the passes to keep the defense their toes. Both teams traded touchdowns in the first half with Adrian Green catching a beautiful 18 yard score to bring the halftime score to 14-14.

North DeSoto has had a tough season. With only three wins on the season, it’s not the record they would have hoped for. It was a big night for the Griffins. Senior night and the last regular season game. This was a must win game if they wanted to keep their season alive. The Griffins came out ready to fight.

Quarter 1

Under the steady downpour in Bossier City on Friday, the Mansfield Wolverines fell to the Bossier Bearkats 41-22 in District 1-3A action. The Wolverines (3-5, 0-2) opened the night with an outstanding drive on the ground that was capped off by an 11 yard Jermarlin Walker touchdown run.

The Logansport Tigers played host to longtime district rivals the St Mary Tigers this past Friday night. Logansport came into the game with a 2-5 record overall and 2-0 in District 3-1A. St Mary held a record of 3-4 overall and 1-1 in District play.

Evangel is new to the district this year and North DeSoto knew they would have their hands full this week. It was going to be a rainy and muddy game. With just two regular season games left, the Griffins are trying to do anything to keep their season alive.

The Logansport Tigers grabbed their 2nd victory of the season with a 20-6 win over the Montgomery Tigers. One week after scoring 90 points, Montgomery was held to 1 touchdown by the Tigers and only threatened to score 1 other time. With the win the Tigers improved to 2-5 on the season, but more importantly 2-0 in District play. The week the Tigers return home to host longtime rival the St Mary Tigers. Game time is 7:00 in Tiger Stadium.

Logansport got on the board in the first quarter on a 13 yard run by Xavier Simpson The extra point failed and the lead was 6-0. The scoring play ended a 7 play 78 yard drive. The next Tiger score came on a 2 yard run by Key’salvyn Barnes. Jace Shoalmire passed to Matt Woods for the conversion.

North DeSoto has been on the road for three weeks. They were finally back at Griffin stadium this week for homecoming. After losing two of the three road games, the Griffins really needed a win this week.

Quarter 1

North DeSoto received the ball to start. David Atkins ran the ball to begin the drive. Then Beau Phillips ran it for a few plays. Kelvin Kinney connected with Colin McDaniel for first down before connecting with David Atkins in the end zone on 4th down for the Griffins to score first. They took the lead 7-0 with 9:30 left. North DeSoto also recovered the onside kick, but they went three and out and punted it away. BTW put together a long drive that got them into the red zone, but the Griffin defense stood tall and forced a turnover on downs. North DeSoto was putting together a drive when the first quarter ended.
