DeSoto Mayors Gather for Quarterly Meeting

Each quarter, the mayors of DeSoto Parish gather to share ideas and problems concerning each community. The meeting held on July 10, was hosted by Logansport Mayor Katherine Freeman, and was held at Riverʼs Edge Restaurant in Logansport, which also included the Mayorsʼ support staff personnel, DeSoto Chamber of Commerce staff and area media. Thirteenth Annual DeSoto LSU Alumni Taylor Classic Set for This Weekend

The 13th LSU Dr. Don Taylor Golf Classic will be presented by the DeSoto Parish Chapter of the LSU Alumni Association this Friday, July 11th and Saturday, July 12, at the Cypress Bend Golf Resort. The weekend will start with a warm welcome reception for all in the Grand Lobby of the Resort. Light food fare will be provided as those attending gather talking over good times while enjoying the  fellowship during the course of the weekend.

Canon Sparks Undergoes Successful Liver Transplant

Recently, The Enterprise informed readers of a need for baby Canon Zemry Sparks to undergo a liver transplant from a condition that was discovered at birth. During Canon's delivery, doctor's learned that the baby suffered from 
Duodenal Atresia, which is a condition in which the first part of the small bowel has not developed properly. It is not open and cannot allow the passage of stomach contents.

Governor’s Games and Balloon’s Over DeSoto Events Both Rescheduled

If you tried to attend the Governor’s Games that were to be held at the DeSoto Parish Sports Complex, and came to an empty venue, they had to be rescheduled due to severe weather in South Louisiana on the spur of the
moment. Roads were flooded and closed preventing teams, coaches, officials and fans from the Southern region of the state from reaching their Mansfield destination

Stonewall Public Servant Retires After Forty Years of Service

At the regular meeting of the Stonewall City Council, longtime public servant Curtis McCune was honored with a reception for his forty years of service. McCune was the first elected mayor of the Town of Stonewall in 1974, serving in that capacity until 2010. At that point McCune decided it was time for a change in leadership, letting someone younger take on the office of Mayor
