Sheriff Arbuckle Salutes Retirees; Announces Replacements and Promotions

Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle would like to congratulate some longtime employees on their retirement as well as announce their replacements and promotions. On September 1, three deputies have retired and combined take with them over a century (105 total years) of experience from the Sheriff’s Office. Chief of Corrections Dennis Reed (34 years), Deputy Carolyn Landrum (36 years), and Captain Toni Morris (35 years) said their farewells to other employees and friends at a combined retirement party.

Fresh Shoes and JADD Tax Welcomed to Mansfield Business Community

On Friday, September 2, the DeSoto Parish Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony for Fresh Shoes and JADD Tax. The new business carries shoes for all occasions and is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM, but is closed on Sunday. The business also houses and tax and small loan company that has the same business hours. Louisiana State Fire Marshall’s Office Hosts Ceremony to Mark 15th Anniversary of 9-11 Attacks

Births, graduations, anniversaries, deaths. Historic events, such as the birth of this country or the recent flooding experienced by thousands of Louisianans. All are memorialized as days on calendars. Each remembered, celebrated, or lamented, by those whose lives were impacted in various forms on those days...whether as individuals, a community, or a nation. One such date that changed forever the lives of families, individually, and of this country, collectively, is September 11, 2001. Many will remember it as a day when hateful acts led to buildings falling. But for most, it is a day when selfless sacrifice and true heroism arose.

C. E. “Rusty” Williams Airport Announces 7th Annual Fly-In Date

Randi Walding, Manager of the C. E. “Rusty” Williams Airport, has announced that the Seventh Annual Fly-In will be held at the airport on Saturday, September 17 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The DeSoto Parish Police Jury and the airport co-present the yearly free event, which is among the favorite happenings here in DeSoto Parish. Ms. Walding said that his year’s event will follow suit with events and activities much the same in years past.

DPPJ Board of Review 2016 Tax Roll

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC: The DeSoto Parish Police Jury will sit as a Board of Review for the 2016 Tax Roll, for a 10day period, beginning on September 6, 2016 and ending on September 16, 2016.  The hearing date for the Board of Review will be Monday, September 12, 2016 at 5:00 P.M. The Board of Review shall consider the written or oral protests of any taxpayer desiring to be heard that has filed and provided a written appeal using Form 3101 to the Board of Review, no later than the 7th day after the final assessment lists exposure date, either through appearing in person at its office or by filing such appeal by means of certified mail.  The final date to file such written appeal is Monday, September 5, 2016.

DPPJ Invites DeSoto Families to a “Day in the Park”

On Monday, September 5 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM, DeSoto Parish families are invited to attend a “Day in the Park” at the DeSoto Parish Alumni Park, which is located at 1216 Old Jefferson Hwy. in Mansfield. All activities and food will be provided for free, compliments of the DeSoto Parish Police Jury. Food items available will include  hot dogs, chips, sno cones, bottled water and soda.
