Graveside services honoring the life of Rex Heard, 81, of Logansport, LA were held at Bethel Cemetery on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Robert Barron officiating. Visitation was held on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Logansport, LA from 6:00 PM till 9:00 PM. Rex Madison Heard died June 21, 2017 after a brief illness in Shreveport, LA. He was born January 1, 1936 to Johnny Huson Burkett Heard and Theresa Anna Green Heard in their home in Bethel, LA. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Martha Fayard Heard; and his brothers John Leonard Heard of Logansport, LA and James Raymond Heard of Mansfield, LA. Left to cherish his memory is his only son David Z.

Funeral services honoring the life of William “Will” Jones Burkett, 80, were held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 19, 2017 at Fellowship Baptist Church with burial that followed at Oak Grove community, near Converse, LA. The family received friends during visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, LA. Officiating were Rev. Jimmy Dan Lilley and Rev. Jim Tennery. Will was born on November 23, 1936 to Eddie William and Annie Belle Burkett and entered into rest on June 16, 2017. Will is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend in the community where he grew up. During life, Will served his church, his nation, and his family to set an example for others.

Grand Cane, LA – Visitation honoring the life of Robert Drew, 78, was held from 3:00 PM till 5:00 PM Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Rose-Neath’s Funeral Home in Mansfield, LA. His family had a private graveside service on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Orange, TX. Bobby was born on December 4, 1938 to Robert and Elizabeth Drew and entered into rest on June 17, 2017. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Troy Drew; and brother, Bill Drew. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Sarah J. Drew of Grand Cane, LA; son, Phil Drew of Mansfield, LA, Robert W. Drew and wife Jody of Greenwood, AR; sister, JoAnn Drew of Calahan, FL; brother, Edward Drew and wife Glenda of DeRidder, LA; grandchildren, Clay Drew and wife Chelsey, Phil Drew, Jr., Allan Drew, Rachel Drew; and great-grandchildren, Bailey Drew, Savanna Drew, Avery Drew, Ezra Drew, and Axel Drew.

GRAND CANE, LA--Funeral services honoring the life of Edith Platt, 94, was held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Grand Cane United Methodist Church in Grand Cane, LA with Reverend Leland Wade and Reverend Ken Norton officiating. Burial followed at the Grand Cane Cemetery in Grand Cane, LA. The family received friends at Grand Cane United Methodist Church for visitation on Saturday, June 10, 2017 from 1PM till time of service.

Pete was born in Mansfield, La on August 1, 1949. He was called home on May 27, 2017. He was surrounded by his family he dearly loved. Pete was a Vietnam Marine Vet. In his early years he liked to hunt and fish, in his later years he cherished being with his children and grandchildren spending most of his time with them and other family members. He is preceded in death by his father Jack Kelly, Brother Marvin Kelly, First wife Doris “Sissy” Huey Kelly and son Benjamin Clay Kelly. He is survived by his Mother Maureen Kelly, wife Rosalyn Kelly, Son Glenn Wayne Kelly Jr. and wife Kaci, Daughters Krystal Terrell and husband Troy, and daughter Carrah Kelly, step-son Seth Mulvihill. Sisters Linda Sepulvado and husband Ronnie, Lillian Lagars and husband Joe. Brothers Mike Kelly and wife Kim, Kenneth Dyes and wife Brenda, nine grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Pete was known for helping his friends or anyone that was in need.

Marie was born on November 14, 1944 to Herman and Madie Matheny and entered into rest on May 19, 2017. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. Preceding Marie in death is her parents, Herman and Madie Matheny.

The family received friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 5 PM till 9 PM. Carolyn was born on September 6, 1945 to Ross and Annie Thompson and entered into rest on May 28, 2017. Preceding Carolyn in death is her parents, Ross and Annie Thompson; grandson, Christopher Lee Whaley; brother, Buddy Thompson; and sister Mary Darlene Cheeks. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 51 years, Glenn Edwin Smith of Mansfield, LA; son, Timothy Ross Smith and his wife Ronda of Keithville, LA; daughter, Mary Margaret Whaley of Mansfield, LA; grandchildren, Angel Welch and her husband Brady, Dillon Smith, Destiny Smith; and great grandchildren, BoDixie Welch, Bambi Welch and Tuff Welch.

KEATCHIE, LA - Services will be held at the Keatchie Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 3,2017, with Reverend Beth Sentell officiating. Burial will be at Keatchie Cemetery followed by a celebration of life for James Robert “JR” Adams, Jr. at his home in Keatchie. JR was born in Birmingham, AL on April 27, 1955,to Anne Blay lock and James Robert"Bob" Adams, Sr. He passed a way May 26, 2017, at age 62, from complications associated with Alzheimer's Disease. He was surrounded by love from his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Dolph Lea, and brother-in-law, Hines "Chip" Rogers.JR grew up in Shreveport, LA and then Keatchie, LA, with his siblings Jeff (Linda) of Keatchie, LA, Don (Temora) of Great Barrington, MA,Charlie (Susan) of Keatchie, LA and Julie Adams Rogers of Keatchie, LA.He was a graduate of Jesuit High School, Class of 1973 and achieved his Eagle Scout Award.
