NORA FAYE ENGLISH CONNELL

Nora Faye English Connell of Grand Cane, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2019 after a lengthy battle with cancer at Colonial Oaks in Bossier City, La. She was born on June 18, 1937 in the Lula Community in Desoto Parish, La.

Nora Faye met the love of her life, Jack G. Connell at Nabors Trailers in Mansfield where she worked in the office and Jack was a truck driver for many years. Together they raised Simmental cattle and sold calves to 4-H children who won numerous awards at the Louisiana State Fair. Even after Jack’s death she loved working and taking care of their cows every day.

Nora’s last employment was as a bookkeeper with her family at English Auto Parts and Wrecker Service in Mansfield. Nora was fondly referred to as “Aunt Nora Faye” by most everyone and famous for her homemade brownies which were the favorites of the Men’s Coffee Bunch at work.

Funeral services for Clara Bessie Webb were held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, LA on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Jimmy Price officiating. Family received friends for visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Interment was held at Sardis Cemetery in Converse, LA.

Clara was born on May 1, 1939 in Mansfield, Louisiana to Charlie E. Ford and Blanche C. Lord. She entered into rest on October 27, 2019 in Many, Louisiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Charles W. Davis; sisters, Jean Manning and Mary Welborn; brothers, Charlie Ford and James Rambin and grandson, Christopher Harville.

Family received friends for visitation at the church on Friday, October 25, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m Interment was held at Spring Ridge Cemetery.

Johnny was born May 1, 1942 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to John Jackson Sims and Florence Wilma Carr Sims. He entered into rest on October 23, 2019 in Converse, Louisiana.

Preceding Johnny in death were his parents; daughter, Jeannie Marie Sims and numerous brothers and sisters.

JERRY STEPP

On Wednesday, September 18, 2019, Jerry Stepp, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 77.

Jerry was born on April 22, 1942 near Mansfield, LA to Marvin and Evanell (Agnew) Stepp. Jerry was past President of his 1960 graduating class and attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA on a football scholarship briefly before moving to the Houston, TX area where he met his wife of 52 years, Sandy. They raised two children together, Brandon their son and Brandie their daughter. In 1995, Jerry helped start a tank trailer dealership, Trailers of Texas, with his business partner Randy. Jerry was in the trailer industry for over 51 years. He was very well respected in the industry and key figure in Nabors Trailers, Fruehauf, and ultimately Trailers of Texas.

Azell Ott officiating. Family received friends for visitation at the funeral home on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Interment was held at Pelican Cemetery in Pelican, LA.

Charlotte Denise Ott was born May 7, 1959 to Marvin and Lottie Ott. As a small child, her mother noted an innate need to care for the sick. Her mother encouraged her to assist in the care of her ill father, grandparents, siblings, as well as injured animals.

During a stay at Clara Springs Encampment one summer, Charlotte felt she was led by God to know that He had created her to be a nurse. She never doubted that calling. With continual prayer and intervention from God, Charlotte lived to serve in that calling for over 30 years.

Leonard was born on September 14, 1940 in Converse, Louisiana to Eugene Lloyd and Annie Moore Smith. He entered into rest on October 18, 2019 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Lloyd Wesley Smith; brothers, R.W. Smith, Huey Smith and Eddie Smith and his sisters, Jean Cramer and Mattie Allen.

CAROLYN ANN PERMENTER

Services were held honoring the life of Carolyn Ann Permenter, Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Grand Cane Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Scott officiating.

Carolyn was born in Dallas, Texas on October 8, 1937 and went to be with her Lord on October 17, 2019 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was a longtime pianist and organist for the Grand Cane Baptist Church as well as for the First Methodist Church of Grand Cane. She loved cooking, playing bridge, attending Bible studies and sharing her love for the Lord with her children and all of those around her. She loved her friends and was lovingly known as the “Jelly Lady” at local community events. But her greatest enjoyment of life was time spent in her kitchen and with her four children and their families.

Family received friends for visitation at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 Polk St., Mansfield, Louisiana on Friday, October 18, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Wayne was born on October 16, 1954 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Alva Nichols and Tommie Jean Hanlon Nichols. He entered into rest on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
