The Enterprise Moves to New Location – 110 Welsh Street in Mansfield

The Enterprise Moves to New Location – 110 Welsh Street in Mansfield

Many of you know that the old, historic building that The Enterprise has been housed in since the 1940’s has been for sale for a couple of years. Recently, management made the decision that the building had a better chance of selling if it were to be vacant. Our staff did not want to move. In fact, we dug our heels in wanting to stay around the courthouse square. Alas, a final decision was made and the search was on for a new location to move our office.

We have moved to a delightful new office space at 110 Welsh Street in Mansfield. The office is a converted home that proudly identifies itself as “Lagniappe House”. A little something extra is exactly what The Enterprise is, but we will soon be placing a sign identifying ourselves to avoid confusion as to where we are.

DeSoto E911 Receives Kudos at Natchitoches Meeting Regarding Special Needs Awareness During Emergencies

DeSoto E911 Receives Kudos at Natchitoches Meeting Regarding Special Needs Awareness During Emergencies

First responders are called to a wide spectrum of unknowns. Sometimes they respond to a home occupied by a resident with special needs or the elderly who require unconventional assistance.

The 911 Commission heard from Lela Harvey, representing Voices for Autism, at their regular meeting Tuesday, Jan. 19. She was addressing the commission for the second time requesting ways for first responders to be aware when they are dealing with special circumstances.

Harvey stated that the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office allows residents to register via a special needs awareness link on their mobile app. She cited an incident where emergency personnel responded to the home of an adult, non-verbal autistic person with aggressive tendencies. Responders knew to turn off their lights and sirens, which were stressors. “They knew the situation and were prepared,” Harvey said. “I’m pushing it so hard because I know it works. It saves lives.”
