The Mansfield High School Lady Wolverine Softball Team closed its regular season with a victory over Green Oaks and a recognition of the senior players on Thursday, April 15, at the Mansfield High School softball field.

The Lady Wolverines soundly defeated the Green Oaks Lady Giants 23-1 and found themselves positioned for a playoff game on Monday, April 19.

Head Coach Lockey Whitaker Reliford took a moment after the game to honor her seniors players Inyra Duncan and Persefphonie Vanzant.

The Lady Tigers traveled to Shreveport to take on the Captain Shreve Lady Gators.

Heading into the 6th inning Captain Shreve held a 6-5 lead. With 6 runs in the 6th and 7th innings, the Lady Tigers earned the 17-6 win. Katie Woods got the start and pitched the complete game while striking out 10.

Captain Shreve took an early lead with 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. In the top of the 2nd, Alexis Bridges singled to centerfield and drove in Kenndi Smith with the Lady Tigers first run. Avery Creech scored when Woods reached on an error. Jordan Porterfield grounded out to 2nd and drove in Bridges to tie the game at 3. Sara Arbuckle followed with a single that scored Woods. Captain Shreve tied the game at 4 in the bottom of the 2nd. Logansport took the lead in the top of the 4th when Arbuckle drove in Woods.

The Lady Panthers fell to Florien by the score of 6-1. Riley Palmer got the start and suffered the loss. Palmer went all 7 innings and struck out 5 in the game. Stanley’s lone run came in the 1st inning when Bonnie Caston scored on a single by Palmer. Palmer collected 2 of the Lady Panther hits with Mckinsey Brouillette collecting the other.

Next up for Stanley was a matchup with Evangel Christian Academy. The Lady Panthers earned a 16-5 win. Palmer got the start and picked up the win while striking out 8. Mady Holmes led the way at the plate with 4 hits. B. Caston scored 4 runs and Jade Jones drove in 4 runs.

B. Caston drove in Holmes with the 1 st run of the game on a single to left field.

On Monday, the Lady Tigers faced off with Caddo Magnet. The Lady Tigers picked up a 13-3 win. Sara Arbuckle was a driving force in the game collecting 3 homeruns in the game. Avery Creech made the start on the mound and earned the win by striking out 10 in 5 innings.

Logansport got on the board in the top of the 1st inning when Jordan Porterfield singled and drove in Katie Woods. Porterfield scored on a groundout by Landry Atkins. Arbuckle hit her first homer on a line drive to right field and a 3-0 lead. In the top of the 2nd, Alexis Bridges scored on a single by Porterfield. L .Atkins followed with a double to center field that scored Kennedi Smith and Porterfield.

On Monday, the Lady Tigers played host to the Lady Flyers of Loyola College Prep for a non-district double header. In the opener Logansport took the win 13-1 in 5 innings. Katie Woods got the start on the mound for Logansport and earned the win after pitching 3 innings only allowing 1 hit and striking out 6. Sara Arbuckle pitched the final 2 innings and allowed 1 hit and struck out 3.

In the bottom of the 1st inning, Woods scored on a passed ball for the 1st run of the game. Jordan Porterfield scored on a wild pitch and Avery Creech drove in Madison Magee with the 3rd run. Arbuckle scored the final run of the 1 st on a wild pitch. Porterfield scored the next Logansport run on a passed ball to push the lead to 5-0.

On Tuesday March 16, the Lady Panther traveled to Benton to take on the Lady Tigers.

Stanley was able to come away with a hard fought 12-11 win after plating the winning run in the top of the 7th inning. Alyssa Gooden got the start for the Lady Panthers and went 5 and one-third innings allowing 10 runs. Tori Holmes picked up the win in relief going 1 two-third innings and only allowing 1 run.

Stanley got on the board in the top of the 1st inning when McKinnsey Brouillette singled and Maddie Holmes scored on the play. Jade Jones scored the next run on a passed ball for a 2-0 lead. Brouillette scored the final run of the inning on a passed ball for the 3-0 lead. Benton cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the 1st. Christian Bartin, in the game as a courtesy runner for Gooden, scored on a double to left field by McKayla Williams to push the lead to 4-2. The Lady Tigers tied the game at 4 in the bottom of the 2nd.
