Private graveside services honoring the life of James Julyn Booker, 92, were held at Prude Cemetery.

James was born on June 9, 1928 in Mansfield, Louisiana to Willie and Tina Booker. He entered into eternal rest on August 29, 2020 in Mansfield, Louisiana.

James and his son, Dr. James Gary Booker M.D., passed away together in a tragic ATV accident.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Willie Booker and Tina Magnees Booker; son, Dr. James Gary Booker M.D.; grandson, John Gavin Barber, along with five brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services honoring the life of Ransome Alexander Canipe, Jr. were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, Louisiana. Officiating the service was Rev. Amador Santos. Interment followed at Prude Cemetery in Mansfield, Louisiana. A visitation with the family was held at the funeral home on Saturday, August 15, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Ransome was born on December 13, 1968 in Mansfield, Louisiana to Ransome Alexander Canipe, Sr. and Mary Marie Booker Canipe. He entered into eternal rest on August 13, 2020 in Mansfield, Louisiana.

Preceding Ransome in death are his parents, Ransome and Mary Canipe; paternal and maternal grandparents; sister, Judy Diane Wilson; and niece, Stephanie Wilson.

Officiating the service will be Bro. Toby Shaw. A visitation with the family was held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield on Monday, August 31, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Raymond was born on October 11, 1945 in Minden, Louisiana to J.W. “Jim” Burr and Carrie Burr. He entered into eternal rest on August 25, 2020 in Mansfield, Louisiana.

Funeral services honoring the life of Blanche Emily Moncrief Headrick Herring, 95, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, Louisiana. Interment followed the service at Longstreet Cemetery.

Blanche was born on February 20, 1925 in Longstreet, Louisiana to John Wilburn Moncrief and Ethel McLendon Moncrief. She entered into eternal rest on August 21, 2020 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Blanche was employed with the United States Postal Service and retired after 20+ years.

Preceding her in death are her parents, John and Ethel Moncrief; father of her children, H.C. Headrick; husband, Richard Herring; son, Ken Headrick; daughter, Barbara Dene “Denie” Headrick; brothers, J.W. Moncrief, Jr and George Moncrief; and sister, Ora Moncrief.

Funeral services honoring the life of Willie Faye “Cooter” Mayfield were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, Louisiana. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Jimmy Price. Interment followed at Old Union Cemetery in Benson, Louisiana. A visitation with the family was held at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service.

Willie Faye “Cooter” Mayfield was born on June 24, 1943 in Converse, Louisiana to Henry Raybern McDonald and Alabama Norwood McDonald. She entered into eternal rest on August 17, 2020 in Mansfield, Louisiana.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Raybern and Alabama McDonald, and her brothers, Morris Troy McDonald, Eldon Ray McDonald, and Raymond Vernon McDonald.

DONALD WRAY RUTHERFORD

Graveside services for Donald Wray Rutherford of Stanley, Louisiana were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 17, at Union Springs Baptist Church, 1032 Hwy. 191 in Converse. The service was officiated by Bro. Shawn Thrapp and assisted by Rev. Timothy Roberson. The family received visitors at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Logansport from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, August 16.

Donald was born in Mansfield on December 20, 1945, the eldest of Minneola and Hershel Rutherford’s four children. He passed away on August 13, 2020 at Willis-Knighton Pierremont Medical Center in Shreveport from complications related to COVID-19. The family is deeply grateful for the care provided to him by the Critical Care Unit staff during this extremely difficult time.

Mrs. Yolanda Ocon Rambin, 90, passed away on August 14, 2020. A Vigil and Visitation was held on Monday, August 17, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield. Due to COVID-19 capacity restrictions, a private, family-only funeral was necessary. It was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rambin, Louisiana. Officiating was Father Matthew Long. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Mrs. Rambin was born in Corinto, Nicaragua. She met and married her husband, John Kelton Rambin, while he was stationed at the US Naval Base in Corinto in 1946. They moved to Rambin, Louisiana where they raised 13 children, and where she resided until shortly before her death.

Hugh Buie Bennett Jr., 85, entered into eternal rest on July 31, 2020. He was born on January 4, 1935 in Logansport, Louisiana to Hugh Bennett, Sr. and Erma Bennett.

Preceding Hugh in death are his parents, Hugh Bennett, Sr. and Erma Bennett and his brother, Leland Bennett.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Forrester Bennett; children, Margaret Ann Buice and husband Sam; Patricia Kay Bennett, and Deborah Jane Bennett; siblings, Carolyn B. Heard and husband Wiley, grandchildren, Samantha Buice, Jessica Buice Dobbs and husband Nick; Amy Buice, Kimberly Buice Polley and husband Nathan, and Courtney Carroll; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice.

A memorial service honoring Hugh will be held at a later date, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Eleanor Gill, the matriarch of the Gill family, died suddenly at home Tuesday, August 4, 2020. She was 87.

Eleanor is survived by her twin brother, John Marshall Chamberlin, sister Rose Alicia Prudhomme, both of Rambin, La.; and sister-in-law Patsy Chamberlin of Carmel, La. She leaves behind her children, Mary Ligon and husband Bill of Toledo Bend, La., Rita Lemoine and husband Curtis of Decatur, TX, Richard Gill and wife Lynnel of Natchitoches, La., Francis Gill of Campti, La., and Therese Fonrouge and husband Richard of Hollywood, Fl. She’s also survived by 14 grandchildren, Philip and Alicia Fernbaugh and John Charles Lee; Katherine Lemoine; Erin Carnline, Susan McCart and Lydia Nauck; Lenée, Mary Frances and William Gill; Allison, Anne Marie and Gabrielle Fonrouge and Michael Gill, as well as 16 great grandchildren.

She is pre-deceased by her husband, Lawrence Max and her sons Philip Lawrence, William Roger and Lawrence McCorkle.

RONALD “RONNIE” HAMMOCK

Ronald “Ronnie” Hammock, or just plain “Hammock” to those who knew and loved him, passed away on July 21, 2020 in Mansfield. He had suffered from Alzheimer’s

Disease for several years and had resided in the DeSoto Retirement and Rehabilitation Center. A memorial was held at Grand Cane Baptist Church to celebrate his life on Sunday, August 9, 2020.

Hammock was born on February 11, 1947 to parents Tommy and Hattie Hammock, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his sister, Rebecca “Ree” Hammock Hill and nephew David Hill.

He was known around this area as “Snake Man” since he had a way with reptiles and animals. He was a true lover of critters and all of God’s creations, and loved to be one with nature.
