Officiating the service was Rev. Melba Rogers. A visitation was held on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, Louisiana from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.. Interment followed at O. E. Price Cemetery in Logansport, Louisiana.

Joyce was born on November 17, 1943 in Mansfield, Louisiana to Vasco Claybrook and Mozelle Cox Claybrook. She entered into eternal rest on August 2, 2021 in Garrison, Texas.

Funeral services honoring the life of Janie Morrell Smith Ward were held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Maple Springs Church in Logansport, Louisiana. Officiating the service were Reverend Mary Smith and Reverend Dwain Smith. A visitation was held at 10:00 a.m. until service time at 12:00 p.m. at Maple Springs Baptist Church in Logansport, Louisiana. Interment followed at Longstreet Cemetery in Longstreet, Louisiana.

Janie was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on August 21, 1939 to George Thomas Morrell and Garland Sample Morrell. She passed from this life on July 26, 2021 in Longstreet, Louisiana. She was a member of Maple Springs Baptist church and Logansport Alf Garrett #123 Order of the Eastern Star. She loved sewing and making Raggedy Ann and Andy Dolls. She loved to travel out west and loved the Rocky Mountains, the ocean and lighthouses. She loved spending time with her family and watching the New Orleans Saints.

TRUMAN PLUMMER BLUE

On Tuesday, July 27, 2021 Truman Plummer Blue, father of one child, and grandfather passed away at the age of 77.

Truman was born in Pleasant Hill on August 6, 1943 to Earl and Lexie Blue. On September 23, 1963 he married Elizabeth “Maxine” Hoard of Logansport, Louisiana and they settled in Stanley, Louisiana. They reared one daughter, Julie Elyse Blue, and assisted in rearing two grandchildren, Bradly Scott McCollum and Cody Preston Harris.

After 43 years of employment as a detailed weldsman, Truman retired from Riley Beaird Industries in Shreveport, Louisiana. Truman’s love of fishing, hunting and the great outdoors was encouraged by Elmon Duncan Hoard, and Truman passed along his knowledge and mentored several in the love of nature and outdoor sports including his daughter, grandsons, and nephew, Casey Hannigan. Truman was a family man and enjoyed chatting with anyone. If he picked on you he loved you.

Services for Cecil Buron “C. B.” Lum, 68, were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 2, 2021, at Hunter Magnolia Baptist Church. The visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 2, 2021, at Hunter Magnolia Baptist Church. Officiating the service was Pastor Amador Santos. Interment followed at Union Springs Cemetery.

C. B. passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He was a resident of the Union Springs Community. C. B. was a member of Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 141 of Shreveport, Louisiana, where he retired. He loved play ing his guitar for the Lord and loved to fish.

Mrs. Churchman was born on April 25, 1944 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Charles E. Burford and Laverne Lemley Burford of Gloster, Louisiana. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and a lifelong teacher. She entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family on July 21, 2021 at her residence in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Charles and Laverne Burford; her sister, Mary Carol McLamb, and brother-in-law, James McLamb.

John Taylor Ward, father, grandfather and great-grandfather departed this life on July 13, 2021 at the age of 85. He was born in Dyersburg, TN on July 15, 1935. A memorial service will be held at the Mansfield Church of Christ on Saturday, July 31, 2021. The family will receive visitors at 9:00 a.m. with services following at 10:00 a.m. Burial at Herndon Cemetery in Jonesboro, AR.

Preceding him in death are his wife, Betty Gean Beck Ward; his parents, Ilas Taylor and Rubye H. Ward; brothers, Gene Ward and James Ward.

PARKER LEE GARRETT

Logansport native, Parker Lee Garrett, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 4, 2021. This was a most fitting day for Parker to leave this world since he spent his life loving his country. His deep American Roots caused him to answer the call to duty to serve his country by enlisting in the U. S. Army at the age of 20. He did a tour of both Korea and Viet Nam. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and served as Adjutant and Chaplain for many years in the Col. James Hamilton Beard Camp in Logansport. He was in the process of becoming a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas through the Truitt-Garrett linage.

Price Cemetery in Logansport, Louisiana.

Clay was born on October 24, 1949, in Logansport, Louisiana to Henry Clay Clark, Jr. and Audrey Lee Rupe. He entered into eternal rest on June 28, 2021, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Clay retired from the DeSoto Parish School System where he taught for 40 years. He also served on the Civil Service Board for DeSoto Parish Fire District 1.

Anna was born on November 25, 1945 in Shreveport, Louisiana to William Joseph Dunn and Eva Maude Odum Dunn. She entered into eternal rest on June 18, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She retired from the Desoto Parish School Board as a Psychologist. She will be remembered for her jokes, fishing, and love of antiques.

Preceding Anna in death are her parents, William and Eva Dunn. She is survived by her sister, Mary (Honey Gal) Odenwelder of Grand Cane, Louisiana; brother, William J. Dunn III and wife Carol of Oxford, Mississippi; nieces, Laura Goff and husband Dave, Molly Dunn, Eva Dunn; nephew, Will Dunn; great-nieces, Mary, Carly, Jaime; and great-nephew, Nick.
