Hey, Let’s Talk!
Chicken Beignets

Did you know that rolls of plain ole Pillsbury-type refrigerated biscuits can make great dumplings or pretty darned good Beignets? OR even both together?? Well, stay tuned...

I hope you are enjoying our great Fall weather and colors or at least DeSoto Parish’s version of them. Traveling to Shreveport “the old way” or more precisely up Hwy. 175 the hardwoods were all awash with the changing colors. As my fellow Columnist here in The Enterprise, Allison Carpenter, says, “The saffron colors of Autumn”. She really has a way with words and usually gets a chuckle or a big lump in my throat with her well written columns each week. I guess there are two things that tell you that you are a successful writer and that is being published and then being quoted - Maybe being paid for being published might even be a little better.

Saffron colors in my own yard are yellow Redbud Trees, red Crepe Myrtles, and rusty Oaks all slowly dropping leaves. The smallest breath of wind sends them spinning or seesawing down in singles while a brief gust sends showers “Falling”down. How comforting, how nostalgic ... how good for the soul. Please get out if only to your own backyard and drink all this up!
