Celebrating the life of Jimmy Ray Sims Sr., 63, of Mansfield, LA.

Jimmy went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 25,2020 at his home in Mansfield. Graveside services were held at The Double Churches and Grove Hill Cemetery, just outside of Mansfield, on October 1, 2020. A slide show of Jimmy’s life began at 9:00 a.m. with services immediately following at 10:00 a.m.

Jimmy was born on November 1, 1956 in Citronelle, Alabama to parents Clyde Willis Sims Sr. and Laura Louise Sims.

Jimmy’s dad worked in the oilfield and they moved across the southern states to Grand Cane, LA, where he grew up playing football, baseball, riding his horse Rebel, and taking an occasional dirt road or two. His first love was a hot rod. He was a lifelong Mopar man and LSU fan. He followed in his daddy’s footsteps and worked in the oilfield. Jimmy believed in working hard and doing the best that you can. He loved everything about working with his hands and believed that it was a way of life and was proud to be a roughneck.

In 1973, Jimmy married the love of his life Darlene K Arie of Mansfield, LA. The two would go on to be married for 46 years and 10 months. During those years Darlene gave birth to three boys, Jimmy Sims Jr., Marion Henry Sims, and Jesse Garon Sims. Jimmy was a proud father, devoted husband, and true believer of Jesus Christ. He lived his life to the fullest and believed in his family and the value of his last name. The day Jimmy became Papaw was one of the best days of his life. He was a grandfather to 9 grandchildren and a great grandfather to 9 great grandchildren. Each and every grandchild had their own spot in Papaw’s heart. He was proud to be a Sims and proud of the family God had given him.

Jimmy was loved by many and he never knew the impact that he made on so many of his friends and family’s lives. Papaw’s stories and tall tales will live on forever in our hearts and memories to be told to our families for years to come.

He was preceded in death by his daddy, Clyde Willis Sims Sr., mother Laura Louise Sims, brother Don Sims, sister Doris Arabie, great grandchildren Cameron Sims, Carson Sims, and special sisters-in-law Debbie Arie McDonald and Marilyn Arie Hunter.
