Tigers Overcome West St John 22-14 to Earn Semi-Final Berth

For the 3rd consecutive season the Logansport Tigers matched up with the West St John Rams in the Playoffs. 2 years ago the teams met in Edgard in the Semi-finals and the Rams earned the win on the way to a state Championship. Last season in the quarterfinals, the teams met in Logansport for the quarterfinal round. The Tigers held a 17 point lead before falling 24-23. This season West St John came into the playoffs as the Number 1 seed while the Tigers were seeded number 8. With the win, the Tigers will be making their 3rd semi-final appearance in the last 4 years. This week the Tigers will travel to Oak Grove to take on the number 4 seed.

The 2 teams played an evenly matched game as the Tigers had 330 yards of total offense, while the Rams had 328 yards. The teams played to a scoreless first quarter as each teams defense was ready for the challenge. Logansport was able to get on the board first when Patrick Mims broke free on a 32 yard run. Mims took the direct snap and broke free up the middle. The extra point attempt was no good and the Tigers led 6-0. On the ensuing kickoff West St John answered when Kajean Kendrick fielded the kick at the 33 yard line and raced 67 yards for the score. The Rams tried for a 2 point conversion but were tackled in the backfield leaving the score 6-6. The Rams took the lead when D’Kyri Jackson scored on a 5 yard run. A pass from D’Andre Gaudia to Trenton Grow for the conversion gave the Rams a 14-6 lead at halftime.
