Mansfield Mourns the Loss of Former Fire Chief Wayne Nichols

Former Mansfield Fire Chief Wayne Nichols received his last call on Tuesday, October 15 in Shreveport. Chief Nichols had been a dedicated firefighter for over thirty years with various fire departments in the area. He loved Christ, his church, his family, and serving others. He shared his love of God with everyone, and his grandchildren and “fur babies” were each special to him, and the loves of his life.

He was born on October 16, 1954 in Shreveport to Alva Nichols and Tommie Jean Hanlon Nichols, who preceded him in death, along with his daughter, Regina, and brother, Rodney Nichols. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 20 years, Susan Free Nichols of Frierson; his son, Brandon Nichols, and wife Jeannie of Shreveport; daughter Colleen Sisson and husband, John of Mansfield; his brother Mark Nichols and fiancée Kathy Morvan of Vinton; his nephew Matt; grandchildren Alyse, Autumn, Nick, Collin, Aiden, Gage and Kaylee; one greatgrandson, Charlie, and a host of family and friends.
