Victories, Defeats and Runoffs in November

DeSoto Parish voters joined their fellow Louisianans by going to the poles on Saturday, October 12. The beautiful fall day encouraged citizens to get out and about with 48% of registered DeSoto voters casting ballots for the candidates that they felt would be the best person for that particular political office.

Locally, DeSoto Clerk of Court Jeremy Evans will retain his office with a victory of 51% of voters supporting him. Evans received 4,693 votes, with Brandy Koenig Pearce receiving 49%, or 4,435. There were 9,128 votes cast in the COC election.

Also remaining in office is Dr. Jeffery Evans, who defeated his challenger with 72%, or 6,247 votes as compared to Dr. Pat McGauly garnering 28% with 2,456. An overall amount of DeSoto Parish voters participating in the race totaled 8,703. Billy Spears defeated Deborah Roberts for the office of Constable-Justice of the Peace for Ward 6, with Spears receiving 821, or 71% of the vote, to Roberts 338, or 29%. Participants in this election totaled 1,159.
