On September 17, 2018, Connie Philipp began working for DeSoto Parish Animal Services at the T. B. Yopp, Jr. Facility located at 202 Liberty Drive in Grand Cane. At the regular meeting of the DeSoto Parish Police Jury Philipp was offered a 90 day extension of her contract as Director, which was unanimously approved by the Jury and accepted by Philipp.

Although she’s only been there a brief time, she has been in this area for a while longer. She resided in Grand Cane and now Marshall, Texas with her husband, horses and dogs on a 10 acre ranch.

Philipp has plans for the both the animals that pass through the facility as well as her staff. She hopes to soon become fully staffed and welcomes volunteers ages 18 and up. If a parent volunteers along with them, children under 18 are also welcome to come out and help with the animals. One of her main objectives is to be a good care giver to the animals as well as to her staff. There was a cheerfulness in the air during a recent visit, with the animals even seeming more at ease with their circumstances.
