On Sunday afternoon, November 18, Fr. George Genuso and the congregation of Christ Memorial Episcopal Church hosted the gathering of three other community churches for an Ecumenical Church Service. The definition of Ecumenical is the desire to unite several Christian church denominations. This merger included participation from not only Christ Memorial Episcopal Church but was also comprised of First United Methodist Church, Union Spring Baptist Church and St. John the Baptist Church, all of Mansfield.

Fr. Genuso opened the service by welcoming the overflowing crowd of all ages. The theme of the special service was “Unity in the Community” with several denominations and races coming together to praise God and join in Christian fellowship. Liturgists that read scripture were Worlita Williams and Felicia Steadman of Union Spring Baptist Church.

Rev. Joseph Hall, Jr., Pastor of Union Spring Baptist Church, delivered the sermon entitled, “Breaking Down the Middle Wall,” with related scripture found in Ephesians 2:14-15. The choir from St. John the Baptist Church provided special music selections for the service.
