City Discusses End of Year Business

The regular bi-monthly meeting of the City of Mansfield was held on Monday, November 26, with all aldermen in attendance. Mitchell Lewis said the invocation, with Joseph Hall, Jr. leading the Pledge of Allegiance. No guests present elected to speak during the Public Comments period.

Old business discussed included conducting a public hearing to discuss any comments related to the city’s 2019 Proposed Operating Budget of Revenues and Expenditures. The public hearing will be held on December 10, 2018. Aldermen returned a unanimous vote to recommend the adoption of an Operating Budget for this fiscal year, beginning January 1, 2019 and ending on December 31, 2019. They authorized the advertisement of the Notice of Public Hearing and confirming the public hearing date on the same vote.

New business covered the authorization to received and open all sealed public bids for the chemicals needed for usage at the city’s Toledo bend Water Treatment Plant and at the Wastewater Treatment plant. City Clerk Marvin Jackson opened and read five bids, with some bidding on all the chemicals needed, and some only one. One company declined to bid at all. Jackson said he would tally all the bids to be presented at the next scheduled board meeting, which will be held on December 11. The lowest bidder(s) will be appointed the contracts.
