The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Logansport, LA on Thursday, November 8, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Jim was born December 18, 1936 in Goliad, TX to Daniel and Lola Mae Ramsey Guillotte and entered into rest on November 4, 2018, in Logansport, LA.

Preceding Jim in death were his parents; sisters, Jane Bass, Talma Arbuckle; brother, Lewis Guillotte; nieces, Kathy Guillotte Houston, LaJuana Arbuckle Smith, Wendy Guillotte; and nephew, Ronny Lafitte.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 40 years, Jere’ Guillotte; son, Robert Guillotte; daughter, Jennifer Wheless and husband JC; sisters, Marie Lafitte and husband Berle, Dorothy Lafitte and husband Louis; brothers, Douglas Guillotte and wife Martha Jean, Jack Guillotte and wife Betty; grandsons, Ace Wheless, Cash Wheless; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Jim was a 1956 graduate of Logansport High School where he proudly wore #52 as a Logansport Tiger. After graduation, Jim joined the United States Marines. Stationed at Camp Pendleton, he worked as a helicopter mechanic assigned to a carrier which took him to the Phillipines and Okinawa, Japan.

After leaving the military, Jim returned home and worked for Southern Natural Gas Company for over 30 years. At the age of 42, he married his wife of almost 40 years and together, they raised their two children.

Upon taking early retirement for medical reasons, Jim used his time to work for the children by being active in Logansport Little League, Band Boosters, Softball Boosters and the Touchdown Club. If there was money to be raised or work to be done, Jim was usually there. He also served as an Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 33 where he accompanied many young men on camping trips, canoe trips, and other adventures, always sharing his stories.

In retirement, Jim also became active in the Logansport Lions Club and the Bethel United Methodist Church where he had been a member since his youth. Whatever the activity or the project, Jim was always the “mechanic” or the “builder” behind the scenes figuring out how to turn ideas into reality.

Jim loved life and no matter the circumstances, he always looked for the bright spot and did his best to bring a smile to all he met. He will truly be missed.

Honoring Jim as pallbearers will be Chance David, Kenny Guillotte, Joe Lafitte, Donny Lafitte, Ricky Arbuckle, Rick Wing, Jimmy Arbuckle and Brad Arbuckle. Honorary pallbearers will be his friend Harold Scott, grandsons, Ace and Cash Wheless and all the other nephews and great nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church Youth Fund or the Bethel Cemetery Fund.
