Tiger Cagers and the Cowboys

Corky Frith Sportswriter.

After watching this 2013 LSU Tiger men’s basketball team face yet another quality out of state opponent on the road the way of the Texas Tech Red Raiders, and pull out one more victory in the face of defeat. I am convinced that the 2013-14 season will be a memorable one for all Tiger enthusiasts and one of the joyful type. With a front line consisting of (2) freshmen and one upperclassman that brings back memories of Macklin, Scales and Cook and that Final (4) with Jordan and company one can only envision a March Madness that includes that LSU Fighting Tigers.

Logansport Tigers Season Comes

The 2013 football season ended for the Logansport Tigers with a 52-47 loss to the Elton Indians in the first round of the LHSAA Class 1A playoffs. The Tigers qualified for the playoffs even though they had a 2-8 record. The year the LHSAA spilt the public and select schools into different divisions for the playoffs. There are only 27 public schools in Class A so each team earned a playoff berth. With only 5 seniors on this years team,  the Tigers are looking for big improvements next season.

East Jefferson Just Too Much For Griffins

Article Image Alt Text
The rain and cold didn’t have much effect on the visiting East Jefferson Warriors from Metairie, LA last Friday night in Stonewall. The team that came in averaging 44 points per game on offense and only allowing 3 points per game on defense showed why they were one of the top teams in the state in class 4A. North DeSoto was able to move the ball with some success on their first drive but were eventually forced to punt, and the Griffin defense were able to force an East Jefferson punt on their first possession, but that punt was what began the East Jefferson onslaught

History Repeats Itself-Wolverines Lose In First Round

Article Image Alt Text

By Ronnie Hill.

Yes, history Repeated itself, the Mansfield WOLVERINES lost, got blown out, in 1st ROUND of the Playoffs again. That's been the story for the last several years. Some drastic changes need to be made to get the WOLVERINES back to their glory days of the past. Somebody needs to get a back bone and get this done. The Kaplan Pirates scored on 5 of their 6 possessions in the 1st half. The WOLVERINES had 5 punts. The Pirates scored with 1:01 left in the 3rd... I was unable to stay for the remainder of the game and left at the end of the 3rd with the score 40-0.

The 2013 season came to an end this past Friday night for the Logansport Tigers with a 52-47 loss to Elton in the first round of the Class A Playoffs. The Tigers end the season with a 2-9 record and were in the Playoff due to the LHSAA dividing the public and private schools into different classes for the playoffs. Chance of Rayne?…Never

Article Image Alt Text

By Brad Welborn.

The first round of the 2013 LHSAA 4A playoffs took the number 20 seeded North DeSoto Griffins south on I-49 to Rayne, LA to take on the number 13 seed Rayne Wolves. Like the Griffins the Wolves were making their first playoff appearance in the 4A playoffs after moving up from 3A last year. From the very beginning of the game you could see the game plan that the North DeSoto coaching staff implemented would be key to the Griffins success, control the clock and the ball in order to keep Rayne from having a chance. And control the ball and clock they did.
