Emily Fulton Wins Awards at Louisiana State YHEC

The Louisiana State YHEC (Youth Hunter Education Challenge) was held in Pollack, Louisiana on May 31-June 1, 2014. 160 youth ages 10-18 participated from around the state. The youth shoot 4 events- rifle, shotgun,
muzzle-loader, and archery; and 4 non-shooting events- wildlife identification, safety trail, orienteering, and hunter education test.

MMS Cheerleaders Participate in David Rice Memorial Angel Run

Mansfield Middle School Cheerleaders had the privilege of participating in the David Rice Memorial Angel Run on Saturday, May 17th. With the help of community friends and family, MMS cheerleaders were able to give  a $1000 donation to Holy Angels! Holy Angels Residential Facility, established in 1965 by the Congregation of Our Lady of Sorrows and the Catholic Diocese, is an independent, residential training facility focused on sustaining a legacy of care for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in our community. DeSoto Serves

Local First Tee Holds First Annual Golf Tournament

First Tee of Northwest Louisiana held its first annual Golf  Tournament/Classic on Saturday, May 17 at the Mansfield First Tee course. Several local students from Mansfield Middle and High Schools competed in their first formal golf tournament experience. The highlight of the tournament was that the final results revealed that the Middle School girls scored lower than the boys, resulting in a sweeping victory for the young lady Wolverines.

Victoria Carroll of Grand Cane Among Honorees at LSMSA Student Athletic Banquet

Eighty-five student athletes were honored during the annual Athletic Banquet held Friday, May 9, in the gym at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts. “We are here to recognize our student athletes for their hard work and dedication,” said Dale Clingerman, coordinator of athletics nd recreation at LSMSA. “The  students worked very hard, not only  n their sports, but also in their academics.

Elizabeth Delafield Wins 2nd National Championship

This past weekend, Elizabeth Delafield, a 2012 gradate of Logansport High School, earned her second consecutive National Junior College Athletic Association Division II National Championship. Delafield, a Sophomore pitcher for Louisiana State University-Eunice, was the winning pitcher in the National Championship Games against Jones County Junior College. In the championship game Delafield pitched 2.1 innings allowing 3 hits and no runs to earn the win.

LHS Girls Track Bring Home State Honors

The Logansport Girls Track Team traveled to Baton Rouge and participated in the State Track Meet held on May 9. LHS Senior Mallory Guillotte Signs with Centenary Ladies Softball

Logansport High School graduating senior Mallory Guillotte was recently honored with a reception at the school as she signed with Centenary College in Shreveport. Mallory will be trading in her purple and gold Lady Tiger jersey to wear the college colors of maroon and white of the Centenary Ladies Softball program
