Friday 2-14-14 capped off a very special season with a 71-62 win over Converse on Senior night. The Lady Panthers improved to 38-0 and are district 3B Champs, earning them a trip to the playoffs. The first round of playoffs will begin Thursday, February 20 at 6:00 PM in Stanley against Centerville, which is located near Morgan City in St. Mary Parish. Coach Cleve Craig stated that he would like to invite everyone in DeSoto Parish out to support the Lady Panthers

DeSoto Athletics (formerly known as DeSoto Dixie Youth) is excited to announce that registration for the Spring 2014 baseball and softball season is now underway and will conclude February 1st. There are many new and exciting things going on with baseball and softball this year, including a new website and moving girls’ softball away from Dixie to ASA (Amateur Softball Association) which offers more opportunity for better development
for each girl in the program. ASA All Star teams work to advance to the Jr Olympics
DeSoto Parish District Attorney, Richard Z. Johnson, Jr., harvested his first deer EVER while hunting with Assistant District Attorney, Mike Daniel, on December 18, 2013. The 8- point buck was brought down with .270 Winchester rifle, while hunting on the DeSoto-Caddo Parish line.
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes had a special speaker at Mansfield Middle School on January 14. The students heard Elois Grooms, a former American football defensive lineman in the National Football League for the
New Orleans Saints, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Stanley cheerleaders, Brianne Weeks, Captain; Keylee Claybook, Co-Captain; and Mikayla Booker, former cheerleader, traveled to London, England during the Christmas holidays (December 26, 2013- January 2, 2014) to participate in the London New Year’s Day Parade.
The Lady Panthers of Stanley High School have had a tremendous season so far this year, and have a 29-0 record to prove it. They have also brought home 5 First Place Trophies for each tournament that they have participated in.
When Kelby Pearah traded a buddy for his old World War II-era Russian Mosin-Nagant Model 91/30, he never dreamed he’d use it to take down the trophy buck of a lifetime. He hadn’t even fired the rifle, which is equipped only with open sights, since last summer, and wasn’t sure it shot straight when he got an invite to hunt Saturday morning on private land near Elm Grove in Bossier Parish.
