These supply jobs and in DeSoto parish we work to keep small business thriving by hiring local for such things as music, photography, illustration, flowers, etc. When  one or more of these small businesses ‘give back’ to their community, it is an inspiration.

BackAlley Theatre is stirring up laughter with its winter comedy THE KITCHEN WITCHES running Feb. 20 – March 1, 2014 at the theatre in Grand Cane. The 7:00pm show stars Linda Sibley, Lance Ray, Shellye Abington, and
Angel Lindsey. Director is Barry Larson and stage manager is Stacy Causey. The food flies as fast as the jokes in this raucous comedy that mixes two cooks who have hated each other for thirty years, ever since Larry Biddle dated one and married the other. Dolly Biddle, played by Shellye Abington, loves to dispense advice along with her recipes

BackAlley Community Theatre in Grand Cane presents its winter comedy THE KITCHEN WITCHES February 20 – March 1 at 7pm at the theater. This hilarious comedy showcases two cable access cooking show hosts who 
have hated each other for thirty years but are forced into a show together. The insults are flung as hard and fast as the food with delightful results that will have you rolling in the isles. Tickets are $10 and box office is 872-6373 or 461- 8684

Logansport Friends of the Library February News

Here it is February and there really isn't much going on at the Library. We had BINGO Tuesday the 4th but not many showed up. This weather is keeping people close in order not to get sick. We had some good BINGO times even if we were few in number. The regular monthly meeting for the Friends will be Friday 14th. We urge everyone to come to take part in the meetings so we can keep track on what is going on

Stonewall Homemakers Club Hold January Meeting

The Stonewall Homemakers met January 9 at Stonewall Town Hall. Business was conducted, starting with the Pledge of Allegiance and prayer. Immediately following that, members went to Bud’s Pecans, located at 153 Woolworth Road in Stonewall. Mr. Lowery has a pecan shelling business and raises hydroponic tomatoes. He showed members the process of cracking pecans, then the conveyor belts that carry the pecans through the
machines for blowing the shells off, and then the sorting process which  puts the pecans into categories by ize, including pieces or halves. Finally they are ready to be packaged for sale

Mansfield Lions Welcome Mansfield Historic Site Park Ranger

Jane Leone, acting program chair for the Mansfield Lions Club, welcomed Michael Mumaugh, Interpretative Park Ranger at the Mansfield Historic Site, who gave a demonstrative demonstration on what Confederate soldiers wore in battle and the slim diets that they had to endure
