LILLIE MAE SLOAN

Lillie Mae Sloan, 91, Returned to her heavenly home on May 13, 2024, after a beautiful faith filled life. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her through the trials of life and gave her peace. Lillie Mae was born to the late Jonathan Walker and Joyce Alberta Goldsby, in Mansfield, Louisiana on July 27, 1932. She was immersed in the Christian community from a young age at Antioch Baptist Church and joined Emmanuel Baptist Church during her teenage years. Her Christian family would be a lifelong support for her. She graduated from Mansfield High School in May of 1950, and married her best friend Joseph Mason Sloan on June 10, 1950.

Lillie Mae was blessed with a loving family. After marrying in 1950, she started her 73-year adventure with the love of her life. They lived in Cheyenne Wyoming, and Fort Worth, Texas but the Lord always brought them back home to Mansfield, Louisiana. Karen Denise Sloan and Joseph Steven Sloan were born to Lillie Mae and Joe and raised in Mansfield. They later continued to exemplify their Christian values by raising their grandson, Jonathon Cole Robinson, as their son following the untimely death of their daughter, Karen.

Lillie Mae thoroughly enjoyed quilting and cherished her time spent with the ladies at the DeSoto Quilters Guild. Cherished also are the quilts she made and gave to her family and friends.

Lillie Mae was preceded in death by her mother and father, Joyce Alberta, and Johnathan Walker Goldsby; her daughter, Karen Denise Sloan; her brother, Allison “Buster” Goldsby; her brother-in-law, Selvestion “Sonny” Jimes; and her dearest friend, Anna Herring.

Lillie Mae is survived by her husband, Joseph Mason Sloan; her son, and his wife Steve and Ellen Sloan; her son/grandson and his wife, Jonathon, and Barbara Robinson; her sister, Patsy Ann Jimes; sister-in-law Jaunice Goldsby her Grandchildren, Scott Sloan Sistrunk and Whitney Paige Sloan; special niece Cindy Napier and husband John; her great granddaughter Anna Grace Robinson; and so many more family members and dear friends.

Pallbearers were Herbert Dale Hendrick, Robert Burleson, Tony Mac Stewart, Randy Guy, Kelso Stewart, and Peyton Guy.

Visitation was Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home 943 Polk Street, Mansfield, Louisiana. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, At Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home Mansfield, Louisiana at 2:00 p.m. with Christopher Hough Officiating. Interment followed at Highland Cemetery Mansfield, La.

Food and fellowship followed at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
