Funeral services for William “Gene” Craig, 90, of Pleasant Hill, LA, was held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Spring Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Dean Johnson and Rev. Marshall Ingle officiating. Burial followed in the Spring Ridge Cemetery. Visitation began on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Spring Ridge Baptist Church from 5:00 PM until the time of service on May 16th at 2:00 PM. Gene was born on April 1, 1936 and passed away Sunday, May 10, 2026 in his residence in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana. Gene was known to many as teacher, coach, principal, transportation supervisor, basketball referee, police juryman, first responder, volunteer firefighter, army veteran with the atomic energy commission, Deacon of Spring Ridge Baptist Church, and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He is survived by- Elaine Penry (sister) Silsbee, TX, and three kids: Jeff Craig (Mansfield, La), Kim Craig (Tacoma, WA) and Brent Craig (Amy) of (Pineville, Louisiana) and nine foster children. Grandchildren: Meagan Huffstickler (Drew), Taylor Johnson (Jordan), Kyle Craig (Gabi), Madison Campbell (Dylan), Braxton Craig, and Jaxon Craig. Great Grandchildren: Wyatt, Collins, Chap, and Trotter Huffstickler. Brooks, Finley, and Hollis Johnson. Bella, Kinsley, and Drake Campbell; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lena Faye Craig of 63 years married September 9th, 1958; father Clinton Warren Craig, and mother Evie Mae Webb Craig. His sister Verlon Lee Craig, and three brothers Aubrey, Louis Ray, & Gabe Craig.

Pallbearers were Braxton Craig, Jaxon Craig, Kenny Allen, Daryl Bass, Dub Bernard, and Ricky McPhearson. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Hight, L. H. Williams, Benny Knippers, Buckeye Lopez, Buddy Free, and Little Roy Barton.

The family would like to extend their heart felt gratitude to Carla Paddie, Paula Poore, Carolyn Elliott, Centerwell Home Health, Dr. Kamberov & staff, Dr. Veerareddy & staff, and former sitters and friends for their unending love and care.
