CYNTHIA MARIE CHRISTIAN FREEMAN 9/09/43 – 10/12/23

Cynthia Marie Christian Freeman, loving wife, mother, and friend died and was reunited with her parents in heaven on Thursday, October 12, 2023.

Cynthia was born on September 9, 1943, to Gordon and Mamie Christian in Mansfield, LA. She grew up in Stanley, LA, graduating from Stanley High School and went on to complete her Master’s in Elementary Education at Stephen F. Austin State University.

After graduation, she dedicated her career to teaching and loving elementary children for 25 years. Her fellow teachers shared that she was given children with emotional needs because of her compassionate approach to caring for her students – giving them the special feeling and the love of a mother.

On June 7, 1963, she married her high school sweetheart and husband of 60 years, Ben Leland Freeman. She and Ben spent their entire life traveling the world sharing the love of God through their evangelistic work. She was involved in Mission trips through Trinity Baptist Church and with Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief. One of her most memorable and life-changing ministries was traveling to New York City after 911. She and Ben helped with the cleanup efforts and giving teddy bears to children.

In retirement, Cynthia ministered to people of need at Bexar Country Adult Detention Center and Paws for Service. She loved teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School to children at Trinity Baptist Church. In addition, her love and support as “Ms. Cynthia” for the athletes and coaches at Roosevelt High School.

Cynthia had many passions in life. One of her greatest blessings was spending time with her family. She also loved teaching God’s word through Bible studies and prayer meetings, spending time with her teacher and Blue Bottle girlfriends, traveling to Europe, with her favorite place being Provence, France, and painting in her studio she called “Leona’s Place” – this was her happy place. What her children loved about their mom was also her passion for making every one of their birthdays so special, holidays perfectly decorated and filled with love and joy, and visiting her grandchildren – making every visit with “Mama C and Daddy Ben” so memorable.

Cynthia was preceded to heaven by her parents, Gordon and Mamie Christian, aunts and uncles, and her childhood caregiver whom she loved dearly, Leona. She is survived by her husband, Ben Leland Freeman, her son, Ben Leland Freeman III, her daughter, Lara DeLynn Senna and Tony Senna, her daughter, Alisa Darla Volpicelli and Philip Volpicelli, and grandchildren, Nicolas Christian Senna, Vincent James Senna, Olivia Vaughn Volpicelli, and Vivienne Marie Volpicelli.
