FRANCIS STUART “BOOGIE” LAFFITTE 8/06/46 – 8/13/23

Francis Stuart “Boogie” Laffitte of Stonewall, Louisiana, passed away on August 13, 2023, at the age of 77. Born on August 6, 1946, Boogie was best known for his infectious smile, witty personality, and ability to fix just about anything he put his hands on. He was a devoted Christian and deeply loving husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather. He cherished his family and treasured each and every moment spent with them. He put the needs of his family above any of his own needs, even in sickness, making sure his wife was taken care of and that he didn’t miss a single event, whether it be birthdays, his grandchildren’s soccer or basketball games, or graduations.

Boogie had a love for flying airplanes and was a corporate pilot in his earlier years. Throughout various stages in his life, he also worked with train derailments and as a contractor “pushing dirt”, as he would like to say. He loved to tinker with anything mechanical and enjoyed repurposing electronics and automobiles as a hobby. One of his greatest pleasures was to make people laugh, be it stranger, family, or friend. He was one of a kind with his big heart and enormous sense of humor and will be greatly missed by many.

Boogie was preceded in death by his parents, Desiree Smith Laffitte and Joseph Herman “Buck” Laffitte, along with his brothers Joseph Warren Laffitte and Lucien Douglas Laffitte. He is survived by his wife, Lynda Binning Laffitte, his sister Joyce Laffitte Gamble, his sister Marianne Laffitte Welton and husband Rickye, his daughter Stacy Laffitte Ritch and husband Scott, Brad Binning and wife Jenny, Shanna Binning Durr and husband Pat, and his grandchildren, Christopher Ritch and fiancé Kelsie, Lauren Ritch, Aaron Ritch, William Ritch, Larra Binning, Levi Durr, Blocker Durr, Annie Durr, Hunter Flynn, Brooks Flynn, Daniel Nichols, Kaiela Galdon and Pierce Galdon.

Visitation was held at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, Louisiana, on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Mike Hawkins officiating. Boogie was laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Mansfield, Louisiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Angel Flight South Central, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or other children’s charity of choice
