Funeral services for Dena “Denie” Crawford Howe, 96, were held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial followed at Stonewall Cemetery in Stonewall, Louisiana. A visitation was held Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Officiating the service was Reverend McKee Williams.

Denie was born on June 9, 1926 in Shelby County, Texas to Ruth and Herman Crawford and passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022 in Shreveport.

Denie was a resident of Kickapoo, Louisiana and spent the majority of her life helping her husband run their dairy farm. Her faith in the Lord and her family meant everything to her. Denie was so proud and felt so blessed for the fact her family had “no issues” in their lives. She was a faithful prayer warrior. She was a charter member of the First Southern Methodist Church of Stonewall, Louisiana. When she was not outside tending her flower garden, she was reading or bird watching.

Denie is preceded in death by her parents; husband and childhood sweetheart, Maxcy Howe; and children, Gregg Howe and Mary Travis. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter-in-law and best friend, Rickey Howe; grandchildren, Mary Lea Waller and husband, John, Rachel Magee and husband, Doug; Hannah Huckabay and husband, Layne, and Lee Travis and wife, Kerri Ann; greatgrandchildren, Michael Waller, Madison Magee, Paige Waller, Caroline Magee, Chelsea Waller, Kenlee Travis, Lillie Huckabay, Bryce Travis and Payton Huckabay; and best friend, Sally Bagley.

Honoring Denie as pallbearers were Bruce Bernhoft, Jack Burford, T.C. Hall, Layne Huckabay, Nathan Huff, Doug Magee, David Means and John Waller. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Hall Burford, Dudley Glenn, Johnny May and Richard Parker.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to the Rescue Mission, 2033 Texas Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana 71103 or the First Southern Methodist Church in Stonewall, Louisiana.
