Vi grew up in Carmel, La. She lived through the depression and her family didn’t have electricity or running water when she was a child.

Viola was quite an active lady and tried many new things. Vi flew in a biplane in her teens. She went to art school in New Orleans, was a ‘Rosie the Riveter’ in CA, and introduced paint rollers and Fritos to the public in New Orleans. Vi loved to travel and mostly went to visit family in TX and GA with Clint. They also went to Mexico and Hawaii. After Clint died, Viola traveled to Belize, Europe, Medjugorje, and Israel.

Vi was an avid gardener, an artist, and enjoyed painting into her 90s. She exhibited her art in Covington and had a solo show in Lafayette when she was 91.

Vi also loved dancing and was active in many clubs and charity fundraising events. She was a member of groups including prayer, NARFE, sewing, and a martini group. Vi also won many medals in Senior Olympics competing in swimming.

Viola was the matriarch of our large multigenerational family. She was well loved by family and friends, and will be greatly missed.
