On Thursday, July 25, The Mansfield Civic Group hosted a Back to School event at Play Land Park next to City Hall. Food, fun, games, bounce houses, and water slide activities were provided for students and their families that attended.

In Louisiana we don’t just celebrate winter, spring, summer and fall, we celebrate crawfish season, hurricane season, softball and baseball season, and last but not least, FOOTBALL Season. The stadiums will begin to fill at the end of August for Scrimmages and Jamborees before the beginning of the actual season, so here’s a glimpse of football schedules before our Football Digest highlighting each team is released.

River City Track Club’s 13-14 year old girls are headed to the USATF National Junior Olympics in Sacramento, California this week. This group of girls has trained hard all summer long to get to this point, traveling from state to state competing. They will compete in the 4x100, 4x400 relay and many other track and field races this. (submitted)

Be very proud, Stonewall and DeSoto Parish! Your very own Stonewall Yankees won the 11U Global World Series in Gulf Shores, Alabama on July 12, 2019. This is a great group of kids coached by Will Delafield and Shaun Cannon.

After a summer full of hard work and dedication, members of the River City Track Club have achieved their ultimate goal for 2019. They have qualified to compete in the Junior Olympics to be held in Sacramento, California on July 23 through 28.

This has not been an easy road for these 9 and 10-year-old girls as they have traveled and competed in Ft. Worth, Texas, Lancaster, Texas, Baton Rouge, Shreveport and Meridian, Mississippi this season.

DeSoto Athletics has announced that registration for Fall Ball for both baseball and softball is under way for children ages 5 and up. The League age will be determined by the upcoming season age. For boys, it will be the age that they will be by August 31, 2020, and for girls, the age they will be by December 31, 2019. The registration fee is $50.00, which includes their team jersey.

The Fall Season will run from September 1 until October 31, and participation in Fall Ball will be like a huge practice for all players to get them ready for Spring Ball.

The North DeSoto High School Quarterback Club will be hosting the 1st Annual Meet the Players Dinner Auction on August 24th at the David Means 4-H Building in Grand Cane. The doors will open at 5:30PM and dinner will be served at 6:00 with the live auction to follow.
