On Wednesday night the Logansport Tigers Baseball team faced off against the Negreet Rebels.

Logansport was able to earn the win on a walk off 2 run single by Nathan Wheless. With the win the Tigers improved their record to 2-1 on the season. The game was a back and forth affair with 5 lead changes.

Negreet took an early lead, 1-0 on a ground ball to center field in the top of the 1st.

The Logansport Lady Tiger softball team kicked off their 2021 season on Wednesday February 24. After having the 2020 season abruptly end due to Covid-19 the Lady Tiger were excited to be able to step on the diamond once again. When the 2020 season was canceled, the Lady Tigers were sitting in the No 1 ranked position. The Lady Tiger finished their first week with a 1-1 record.

First up in 2021 was a match up with Class 3A North Webster in Springhill. North Webster pushed 3 runs across in the first inning. In the second inning North Webster added 4 more runs to extend their lead to 7-0. IN the 5th inning North Webster scored 2 runs and then added 1 more run in the 6th inning to make the final margin 10-0. The Lady Tigers were held to 2 hits. Avery Creech took the loss of Logansport while striking out 5. Emmarie Atkins and Alexis Bridges collected the only hits for the Lady Tigers.

The Logansport Tigers kicked off their 2021 season this past week with games against Many and Southwood.

On Monday the Tigers traveled to Many to take on the Class 2A Tigers. Many scored 3 runs in the first to take an early lead. In the 4th inning, Many added 6 more runs. With 1 run in the 6th inning the game was called after Many went up 10-0. Hayden Rolfe, Jace Thompson, Kolton Nuemann and Reece Jones recorded the Tigers’ hits in the game. Thompson took the loss for the Tigers allowing 8 runs in 3 ~ innings and striking out 3.

On Wednesday, the Tigers traveled to Shreveport to take on the Class 5A Southwood Cowboys.

The first-round playoff game for the MHS Lady Wolverines was held Sunday, February 21, in the MHS Gymnasium. The game, originally scheduled for Thursday, was re-scheduled twice due to the week’s weather conditions.

Both teams looked evenly matched until the Lady Wolverines pulled together to forge ahead of the Lady Bulldogs.

On Tuesday, February 9, MHS Basketball was in great form in the MHS Gymnasium. The Lady Wolverines continued to beat district opponents as they defeated the North Webster Lady Knights. The game was definitely a showcase for the entire Lady Wolverine team as the final score was MHS 61, NWHS 2.

The Wolverines also showcased their talent as they beat their district foe from Springhill. The final score was MHS 60, NWHS 38.

On Friday night, the Lady Wolverines and Wolverines ended their regular season with recognition of senior players and wins over Loyola College Prep.
