Vida Blue Comes Home for the Holidays

Article Image Alt Text

It’s that time of year when family and hometown memories become dearest to our hearts. The span of time between Thanksgiving and Christmas seems to beckon us to return to the places we enjoyed in earlier years and draw near to loved ones. It had been three years since baseball sports legend Vida Blue had been to Mansfield, and he was happy to join his many siblings in the area. Blue was kind enough to stop by The Enterprise for a visit and graciously answered our questions and posed for photos.

Tigers Suffer Heartbreaking Loss to West St John 24-23

Article Image Alt Text

The Logansport Tigers 2018 season came to an end this past Friday in heartbreaking fashion. The West St John Rams scored a touchdown with only 9 seconds left in the game to come from behind and defeat the hometown Tigers. Logansport had held the lead since the 3:57 mark in the second quarter. The game was played in front of an overflowing crowd at Tiger Stadium. Last time West St John traveled to Logansport, in 1993, for a semifinal game, the game was played in a rainstorm. There was no rain this time but an afternoon shower brought plenty of fog in at game time. With the loss the Tigers end their season with a 10-1 record. The current group of seniors finish their careers with a 45 and 7 record, 1 State championship, 1 semi final loss and appearing in the quarterfinals all 4 years.

Cold and wet field conditions didn’t help the Wolverines last Friday night in a playoff loss to the Welsh Greyhounds.

The Wolverines opened the first quarter with a fumble on their own 31-yard line.

Welsh capitalize on the fumble a few minutes later with a 6-yard rushing touchdown taking the lead 6-0 due to a missed point-after.

North DeSoto’s Season Ends with Home Upset

Article Image Alt Text

By: Madison Ruston

Playoff time is here and the only thing on the minds of the North DeSoto Griffins was to find their way to the Dome one week at a time. They had a tough match with Helen Cox coming into town. They were prepared to fight until the very end.

Quarter 1

Helen Cox got the ball to start the game. They were able to make it into the red zone, but didn’t convert the fourth down and the Griffins took over. They were moving nicely with runs from Rykendrick Simpson and Aubrey Scott before a backwards pass was recovered by Helen Cox. The Cougars didn’t take advantage of the turnover and gave it back to North DeSoto. After a very long drive by the Griffins, they made it into the end zone with a run from Rykendrick Simpson. Passes caught by Aubrey Scott and Logan Leone helped out on this drive. Griffins took the lead 7-0 with :25 seconds left.
