It was a rainy Thursday night as the Mansfield Wolverines travelled to Minden to face the Tide. The game, originally scheduled to be played on Friday, was moved to a Thursday night event due to the threat of Hurricane Delta.

The year 2020 has been one for the books and the 2020 High School Football Season finally got underway this past Friday night. The Logansport Tigers got their abbreviated season started with a matchup with the visiting Bossier Bearkats. With the uncertainty of the season LHS honored their 2020 Senior on opening night. The Tigers were able to start the season with a 40-20 over the visiting Bearkats. This week the Tigers travel to Independence Stadium to take on the Woodlawn Knights.

After a long time of not being certain if there would be a football season, it was finally time to turn on the Friday Night Lights and play some ball. North DeSoto traveled to Many to begin the season. This game is always close and always comes down the very end. And this year was no different.

After months of not knowing if there would even be a season, football is officially back! After a season that didn’t go as planned last year, a second year under Coach Dennis Dunn and 19 returning starters, the Griffins are ready to put on show this season.

The North DeSoto Quarterback Club will be hosting the 2nd Annual Meet the Players Auction Dinner on October 3rd, 2020 at the RB4 Event Center in Logansport, LA. Doors will open at 6:00PM, dinner will be served at 6:30PM and the auction will follow. The auction items will consist of sports memorabilia, vacation getaways, firearms and much more. The proceeds from the auction will benefit the North DeSoto High School football program.

“Last year, our inaugural auction dinner was a huge success and we received an overwhelming response from the community”, said Quarterback Club President Brent Gibson. “The dinner serves as an opportunity to introduce the 2020 North DeSoto Griffins and to raise money for the program. The money raised from last year’s event was used to purchase practice equipment and game day meals for the football team. We look forward to another successful auction dinner this year”.

The Lady Tigers 2020-21 Softball Team are preparing for their upcoming season but stopped long enough to pose for this picture. For a while it was questionable whether or not DeSoto Parish, along with other Louisiana high schools, would be able to have a football season due to COVID-19. That didn’t stop the North DeSoto Griffins Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Dennis Dunn for preparing and practicing his team with the goal of making the Louisiana State Finals.

Hard as his guys worked to become the mighty Griffin football team, Dunn had a dilemma that he had to face and solve. His kicker from last year’s team quit and he didn’t have a replacement on the current roster. He was only at his second year at North DeSoto, but he was aware of the school’s successful, award winning girl’s soccer program.

Dunn contacted the soccer team’s coach that is no longer at NDHS. He asked her if she had anyone that she thought could help the team out and she called the name Aubrey Kuntz without hesitation.

The students and staff of Logansport High School welcome Coach Stephen Burch to the Tiger family. He has been a successful coach for many years and will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the LHS basketball program.

LSU, in partnership with a Louisiana sports technology startup, has developed new helmet cooling technologies to make customizable air circulation devices for athletic helmets with the goal of helping to protect the players from coronavirus. The new devices, literally driven by fans, are being tested by LSU players. The improvements will help them stay cooler and more comfortable on the field, allowing the athletes to keep their helmets and additional COVID-19 safety gear on longer.
